I just purchased a home and everyone and they mama asking me when I’m going to get a new car. I enjoy that my car is paid off and my only debt is my mortgage.

I went from having a 1500 one bedroom apartment, dodge challenger, wasn’t making half that, about $700 a pay check. to homeless with no car living in extended stays. Now I have a 850 one bedroom with “the ghetto white refrigerator”, and a Toyota Corolla. I have so much peace and all my bills are paid and I completely work for myself. That was a hard lesson but Glory to God I made it.

I just had this convo with a friend. She said why do I carry that cheap Gucci knockoff? I said this bag cost me $26 on Walmart, and i love it. I said, it cost me $26 but you spent $2500 on yours but you are always asking me for a loan. In my $26 bag, I have a wallet with $2k in it, see the difference. i ball on a budget. I shop clearance, thrift stores, flea markets, sidewalk sales etc. My Roth account is stacked and here I'm never interested in impressing someone who asks me for money.

People looked sideways at me buying most of our clothes on Poshmark, taking advantage of buy one get one free and sales at the grocery store/ drugstore, cooking almost all our meals at home, and driving our cars until they couldn’t drive anymore. Then we paid off our mortgage at 50. That’s freedom

My parents told me 35+ years ago that if you make 50K live like you’re making 40k and you will always have something. Unfortunately, I didn’t follow those rules early on, but I followed them now.
