Oh my goodness- thank you sincerely for this amazing piece! The engineer who became President of the mill in Japan that has been spinning my cotton since 1993 passed away a few years ago. And my customer, Taishoboseki set up a two day exhibition honoring his life and work in Tokyo. It was meant to be a secret that I would be there, so I kept quiet about it. With only a banner at the top of my website saying “orders placed after March 5 would be full filled in early April”. A few days before I left to attend the exhibition all sorts of orders came in- I could not figure out what was going on. Then a nice person shared your channel. And this evening I got to watch your moving telling of my life’s work with these cottons. Thank you so very much for all that you shared- and I am so happy that you enjoyed working with my yarn! That cone of yarn was indeed spun and plied in Osaka, Japan. By the mill whose former President and lead engineer I was fortunate to pay my respects to, thanks to their generosity in bringing me over for it. There is a mill in the US that spins my cotton for the people who make socks out of it ( Organic Threads) and sheets ( American Blossom Linen). Along with other yarns that I offer on my website. Thanks to your help, there are enough orders for me to pay to get more yarns spun and plied and there will be green yarn again. Probably by midsummer. Gratefully yours, Sally

I have been so angry at the fact we have brown and black sheep but still dye white wool brown or black and throw away the brown wool. But being able to get annoyed about the same problem with cotton would really diversify my anger, so thanks for bringing it to my attention!

I wish we could collectively sue all the corporations that've halted technological, scientific, agricultural, medical, and other progress for the sake of profit. They've made our lives worse, and they should be forced to pay for it. Sally Fox deserves to be the richest person in the world.

The naturally occurring tannins in this cotton change color in response to pH. Colorgrown cotton is more well known in Peru. It comes in various colors: green, pink, brown, etc.

My son, born in 2003 had onesies made out of that. Brown, cream and green stripes.

I had every intention of going to the website, looking at the neat yarn, sighing about how I could never afford it, and moving on. But… it’s actually a reasonable price! I have no idea what the tariffs would be to get it to Canada, but now the desire for it is germinating in my head (pun fully intended).

What about creating an Ombre piece by draping the product in the pot to boil so the intensity fades from dark to light?

Wish I could give Sally virtual hug for this incredible work. Had followed her at start then forgot as was raising children and dairy goats while working. Thank you for supporting her this way

Very surprised no agricultural colleges would work with this woman.

I attended a talk by Sally Fox a huge number of years ago and I have some of the roviing stashed away somewhere. I remember her talk about how hard it was to grow colored cotton as the white cotton growers hated the risk of cross pollination. fascinating stuff.

Wow! As soon as you said "it's grown by one woman on one farm" I shouted "Sally Fox!" at the screen. So excited to hear about her again after so many years, and thank you for your reverse sponsorship of Foxfibre ❤

I bought a set of organic green cotton sheets years ago. They do get darker and softer with repeated washings, and breathe really well in warm weather. I'd live to crochet something with this fiber.
