  The worst part is that this was hyped up the 100th death battle, and many people were looking forward to seeing the growth of these characters from their first battle. They proceeded to lowball both these characters to mere fractions of their overall power and completely assassinate both of their characters by making Mario needlessly violent and angry, while making sonic a downright cretin. They also pulled out hyper sonic for whatever reason over super sonic, and then proceeded to be all pedantic about worthless feats defining the fight and saying that mario wins because he has power ups and sonic doesn&apos;t apparently.

  I don’t think this is the most infamous Death Battle as that title belongs to Goku Vs Superman 2, but this one is definitely up there as one of the worst episodes.<br><br>Not only was the research bad, but the fight was even worse.<br><br>I wasn’t seeing Mario and Sonic duke it out. I was watching an aggressive asshole and an incompetent idiot fighting while cosplaying as two of my favorite characters ever.

  From what I know, Mario isn&apos;t really a character that gets stronger or weaker, he just kinda.. does things. So power ups like the Starman doesn&apos;t really work the same way Super Sonic does, since all it does is just make him invulnerable for a short time, his strength is still the same as it was before.

  Don&apos;t forget that it can be argued that the reason why Sonic couldn&apos;t outrun the blackhole at the end of Colors is because the ground was falling apart and Sonic may have been exhausted from his battle against the Egg Nega Wisp. Not to mention that Sonic has outran a blackhole in Shuffle which is now confirmed to be canon. Also, even though Sonic has never used chaos control to stop time in canon, he has used time-break to stop time in a cutscene in Secret Rings, and the ability returns in Generations. Also, Mario&apos;s stopwatch power-up doesn&apos;t affect bosses and Mario failed to react to Bowser&apos;s hat in the opening of Odyssey, so Sonic has the advantage in terms of speed, reaction, and time manipulation.
