Small update: Eufonika IS still selling gear, just not on Etsy! Check out their stuff at: https://www.eufonika.pl
(Not an affiliate link, I have no financial relationship with Eufonika.)

This is my DAC of choice. It perfectly matches the resolution of my system so that I don’t hear it, I only hear the quality of the recording and mastering. Fun video, thanks!

I appreciated your points about the harshness. I have a Modi 5 and an AKM Modius that I have used with my Valhalla 3. Although I appreciate the blacker backgound, more detail, and wider spacial presentation of the Modi 5, I found it can get a bit exhausting. I like to listen while I work, so the more relaxed Modius is easier for the longer term with music both poorly and well recorded. I put my Modi 5 out with my Sony bookshelf speakers and Onkyo integrated amp, and it works well there via both a Wiim Pro and a TV.

After experiencing your findings with the Schiit Mimir, and what you ended up doing to get a satisfying result, I would try connecting the Schiit Mimir to my Musician Pieces II DDC, and then connect my YAQIN SD-CD3 Tube Buffer to the Schiit Mimir. However, I would expect a more pleasing synergy effect than using the Schiit Mimir connected directly without using a DDC, and without a tube buffer.

Nice video - running HQPlayer dsd512 on my Geshelli J3 via PC through naa and really like the sound. PCM 768 sounds cleaner but dsd gives a bit more texture, depth and smooth sound - at least that’s what I hear fwiw- filters and modulators dependent on the headphone or stereo and what I am listening to. Nice that I am not the only nerd 😂

I have multiple over samplers on Windows, including just the built in one. All sound much better than just streaming native

I use HQPlayer Embedded (Linux) with a 5070Ti GPU, feeding a mini PC endpoint running the NAA Daemon on GentooPlayer, with both PCs connected via 10G fiber through an SFP+ switch. This setup has proved to be much cleaner than a Windows PC running HQPlayer Desktop fed by 1G ethernet. I've been so impressed with the fiber setup that I'm making plans to run fiber to all my endpoints around the house. I'm a non-techie, but AI helped me get familiar with Linux and setting up my network.

The filters aren't so daunting after you play with HQPlayer. None of the filters sound bad - they just provide variety. If that's not your thing, just leave it on the first filter you like. It will still sound better than the original stream by itself.
