Not gonna lie, every American lives in Japan is either a English teacher or a content creator😂

If every American were required to live abroad for a year or so, our country would be so much better off. Kudos to her and all Americans who have taken time to live abroad. It teaches you so much and makes you a stronger, smarter, and overall better human.

The metal panels aren't for the sun, they're for typhoons

Those metal panels are the shields to protect the window glasses from the flying debris that typhoons might bring to your home.

I appreciated her energetic honesty in this episode. SMH at what appeared to be carless naivety but I think young adults need to hear the complications of international moves and making money. You can enjoy life and make money but there will be challenges along the way. I like the positive balance.

As a veteran who was stationed 5 years in Japan, its much easier to be adjacent to the US military for work. Get paid in dollars, most of it tax free and have services tailored for GIs like apartment agencies and bill pay management. Coming to Japan and working for a Japanese company is not for the weak-willed.

Tatami rooms are common as bedrooms, they are not only for tea ceremonies.

She is the same age I was when I moved to Japan 20 years ago.
When to language school full time for about a year and a half, then Waseda for 6 months. Passed N1 (was 1-kyuu at the time), then started full time work.
Language skill only is not enough. You need that in addition to an industry skill.
I hope she does well here. 🎉

I lived in Japan for 13 years...loved every second of it. There's no such thing as a perfect society. However, Japan is damned close imo.

I was in the Marines stationed on Okinawa 4 times this includes Camp Fuji twice...in the 80s and early 90s. I really enjoyed Japan. After many years, I finally convinced my wife, for us to visit Tokyo Japan...last year. She loved it! We're planning to visit Osaka next year. Best of luck to you.
