Car insurance adjusters get a bigger commission off of convincing you to take a low ball offer check for the total loss. If ypu deny the first offer and demand a higher more reasonable offer, then eventually they will if need be, have a different adjuster actually agree with you and pay way more. I had a total liss after being rear ended by someone driving 60 plus mph. Pushed my trunk into the back seat and broke right side rear frame. Adjuster said take 500 dollar check. I said the car was worth 2500. I paid 1200 ..at least give me 1200 thats more than fair. He got mad, yelled, hung up. A week later, a different adjuster called, apologized for the treatment, and agreed to give me 1200. Plus I was able to buy the car back for 200 which was scrap value. I then made another 2000 on selling the parts off of it to those that had same car. And then what was left , I let a salvage yard tow away for free.
