  It used to be a fast food job was a rite of passage (for teens). Now it's considered a full-time job (for some adults).

  Very true. It took me 7 years to realize what my parents say about my fastfood management job. Its good during first few years of your adult life, but will eventually eat up your strength (physical, emtional and mental). There are people who are built for this job, but not me.

  This is one of those jobs where you probably don’t realize how much the experience changes until you look at the different stages. Pretty interesting to see it broken down like this.

  In Illinois the min wage is 15, Chicago is 20. Around here no fast food is paying minimum, most advertising $22-25 which is over $52,000/year. Absurdly overpaid.

  I'm glad I had a food service job when I was younger. I hated it but im glad i had it. I have a good job I love now, but I needed some extra money and I was able to get a part time job in food service fairly easily. I already knew how to do everything in the restaurant so my poor availability is overlooked and I am told I can work whenever I want. I love that flexibility. The work isn't great, but it's not so bad when it's not my full time job.

  When I worked at little Ceasars I was good friends with the district manager. He had to cover every store when a manager called off. He was running himself ragged. He was making good money but he was probably working over 70 hours a week not worth it for me.

  As well, and it covers this at the beginning, but well over 90% of employees (perhaps close to 99%) will never make GM much less district. I have known GM's who stay GM for life and are happy that way, I can not fault them for that, in fact it's a good way to pay your bills and make a living without the stress of district (which is an opportunity that may not even present itself, or does so at the most inopportune time).
