Thank you so much everyone for you kindness and support from the bottom of our hearts. We are with limited internet at the moment but a Starlink replacement kit is on the way so we can start answering to all your comments. - Regarding your questions on our insurace. Yes, we do have insurance but it does not cover lightning strike (act of god) and named storms in this part of the world. Since we are sailing in remote areas to show you these incredible place, unfortunately it is too risky for most insurances to cover lightning strike. Especially Central and South America where there is a lightning season. - We also like to answer the comment about the grounding ( The boat has the oficial beneteau grounding to the keel, we will explain and show it soon) but it failed... We will be back with internet soon, so we can answer all your comments- We know there are already over a thousand of them but we want to answer them one by one, no matter how long it takes. It has been very emotional to read them and it is so encouraging that so many cares about us, and our little furry ones 🐈🐈⬛🥰. We love you!🥰🥰

Hire a Certified Marine Surveyor, Do not buy or start fixing the boat without a specialized inspection explicitly checking for hidden lightning delamination and structural weakening. And get Insurance Assessment. Lightning damage claims easily exceed tens of thousands of dollars; let an insurance adjuster evaluate if the repair costs outpace the value of the vessel.

I know it's of little consolation, but a video series of the repairs and process would be fascinating. It might even be encouraging to others who endure this. Glad that everyone is safe.

So sorry for what you are going through. Before you spend any money on your boat. Carefully add up all the costs to replace everything especially the electronics. Get a very accurate estimate for all the costs to replace everything and what it would cost to repair the damages on the boat. You might be better at this time to look for another boat to replace this one. Sail boat prices are coming down that works on your side. Sam Holmes has moved on from one boat to another. Yes, you have to really look for the right boat with the right price. They are out there you have to look for it. Take this as a learning experience and move on. This boat will turn into a money trap if you try to repair it. I don't think you want to be thousands of miles away from a safe place in a boat with the damages it had. It may look great but structurally sound is more important for your safety and peace of mind. If you want to raise money for helping you, do it right for them and your family. I wish you all the best and have faith in you and your family. Be strong.

The algorithm is on your side because this made it to my feed and I don't watch many boating videos. Best I can do sub, comment, and share. I know the feeling of defeat all to well.

A "snowflake burn" (or star-shaped scorch/fracture pattern) on a boat hull from a lightning strike is caused by a high-voltage electrical arc or side flash tracking across the surface or exiting through the laminate, creating a fractal stress fracture and thermal burn in the gelcoat. Gelcoat Cracking: Crazing, blistering, and starburst fracturing of the outer cosmetic layer.Delamination: Separation of the fiberglass layers from extreme thermal shock and internal steam pressure.Punctures and Holes: Blow-outs where the energy completely vaporized a section of composite or blew out a metal thru-hull fitting.compromised On modern engines, sensitive electronic controls will be destroyed in a lightning strike, and on all engines, oil in bearings and between gears will create resistance and therefore considerable heat which is likely to result in internal damage. Smart to get it out fast. Feeling for you both whom needs all this extra work it all the things metal! That was a massive strike and discharge! Thank god you are safe!!!

Wow, that's terrible. Lightning strike is my biggest fear on a boat. Don't give up! I'm sure we will rally and give you a chance. You are one of the best sailing channels on YT, the perfect balance between maintenance and paradise. So we will see a little maintenance for a while... we are with you. 100%
