  There was a weird modern looking house in my subdivision, way too much glass, strange angles, oddly shaped roof and sides.... just blech. &nbsp;It had the most beautiful yard, though. &nbsp;Flowers and flowering shrubs everywhere, with a pretty stone path and not a speck of grass. &nbsp;I used to drive by just to sigh in awe over that little piece of Heaven. &nbsp;The house went up for sale and about a week later the road was littered with heavy equipment. &nbsp;They dug up that beautiful yard and unrolled sod over the whole thing. &nbsp;I was so sad. &nbsp;So... I made <i>my</i> yard into the neighborhood slice of paradise. &nbsp;I have a traditional English tudor home that looks like it&apos;s been dropped in the middle of the forest. &nbsp;No way it would sell to anyone, but I love my home ❤

  I put $29K into turning my backyard into a garden with a circular patio with a yin/yang design. It is beautiful. And it was necessary, because the backyard was a mess where NOTHING would grow. It&apos;s a shady yard with many trees and people here with yards like mine often do nothing or else put pine straw down everywhere. Mine is pretty, it&apos;s well-kept, and I don&apos;t expect to &quot;get it back&quot; when I sell. HOWEVER....having a pretty and tidy yard that&apos;s conducive to entertaining and has a space for a fire pit is going to be a lot more marketable than a sodden or cracked mess of red clay. And yeah, I&apos;ll die on the hill that doing SOMETHING with it was better than doing nothing with it. And I plan to be here another 10 years.

  I&apos;d be in heaven to find a place with an established garden.<br>I&apos;d definitely not buy a house that didn&apos;t have a tub. &nbsp;My kids are grown and on their own, but I love a relaxing bath.

  I am one who doesn&apos;t like open concept at all. I like the separation between the kitchen and living room. The kitchen is for cooking. It&apos;s noisy, aromatic, busy. I lived in a place with a semi-open situation. I didn&apos;t like the noise from the TV echoing into the kitchen and also didn&apos;t like the smells and noise from the kitchen leaking into the living room. I&apos;m much happier with my current house that has a wonderful full wall between those two areas.

  The neighbors did a garage conversion. The city finally noticed 10 years later and they had to convert it back. Get a permit for anything that requires one.
