  My grandfather was a master Smith.  He had me make a knife out of bog iron when I was 15.  I am 65  now and still have that knife.    It is one of my favorite keepsakes of Grandfather.

  I have made iron and also beer, cider, bread, butter. And I even got my own mule. Everything has gone straight into hell since the medieval times

  I make my own charcoal for blacksmithing and cooking. I also supply a few other blacksmiths with charcoal, including one who is a historian. The historian/smith hosts a few smelts a year, either in his back yard or at various events. I've assisted with four smelts so far. I'm hoping to smelt some iron from my own back yard this summer. Turns out I've got magnetite just laying on the ground. There's also a very good chance my neighbor has bog iron in the swamp on their property.

  The Weald of Sussex used to be the centre of iron production in preindustrial England. It is full of ancient iron ponds for collecting this bog iron as the iron weed locked iron in its structure. East Grinstead was the centre.

  Bog iron, charcoal, clay. Swamps produce what you need to make iron metal. Charcoal produces steel. Borax and other minerals remove impurities from worked metal. Clay forms for casting blanks. Reduces work when you cast blanks to finish.

  Ich bin dafür, dass diese Skills wiederbelebt werden, in Communities. So sind auch größere Kooperationen möglich. Ein gutes Beispiel ist eine Gemeinde in China, die Eigentümer einer Fabrik sind. Jeder, der dort arbeitet, ist gleichzeitig Eigentümer. Das sollten wir verstärken. Das Eigentum sollte bei denen sein, die die Arbeit machen. Und was in jedem Fall verwerflich ist: absichtliche Zerstörung nach einer gewissen Zeit und Vertragswerkstätten, die Horror-Rechnungen schicken und so kleine Farmer und Betriebe ruinieren. Schlimme Entwicklung. In einer Demokratie bestimmt das Volk und es sollte derartige Fehlentwicklungen unterbinden und Verursacher von Schäden haftbar machen.
