I accepted the Lord Jesus as my savior and asked for forgiveness of my sins at the very young age of five years old. I was given a bible that was a Living Bible translation. One night, I was crying because I was afraid of the dark. I was still 5 or 6 years old. My mother came into my room to pray with me and as she prayed, a voice in my head (not outwardly audible, but I could hear it) repeated over and over, “John 1:5, John 1:5”. I asked my mom to read me the verse. My mom read “There’s a light that shines in the darkness and the darkness can never put it out.”

I hear God's voice in my heart nearly every single day. I too love His voice.

I'm a worship leader and a pastor. Psalm 22 is one of the most powerful songs in Scripture—a prophetic psalm that points directly to the crucifixion of Jesus.<br><br>Guess who wrote it.<br><br>Go ahead.<br><br>An adulterer.<br>A murderer.<br>A deceiver.<br>A man who abused his authority.<br>A father who struggled to lead his own family.<br>A king who made devastating mistakes.<br>A man who experienced deep moral failure.<br><br>That's right. David. King David.<br><br>I'll never understand why we're so quick to throw the baby out with the bathwater whenever a pastor, songwriter, or denomination makes a mistake or holds a position we don't agree with.<br><br>If you cannot genuinely worship while singing "Goodness of God" simply because of the church affiliation of the people who wrote it, I think it's worth asking whether your focus has shifted from Christ to people. Worship has never been about the perfection of the songwriter; it has always been about the perfection of the Savior.<br><br>God has always used flawed people to declare His perfect truth. He did it with David, and He still does today.<br><br>I would love to see you use more scripture in "tea" sessions. <br><br>• I love You, Lord → Psalm 18:1 – "I love You, O Lord, my strength."<br><br>• Your mercy never fails me → Lamentations <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMbcB61JWGo&t=202">3:22</a>–23 – His mercies never come to an end; great is His faithfulness.<br><br>• All my days I've been held in Your hands → Isaiah 41:10; Deuteronomy 33:27 – God upholds and carries His people.<br><br>• From the moment that I wake up until I lay my head → Psalm 3:5; Psalm 121:3–8 – God watches over us day and night.<br><br>• I will sing of the goodness of God → Psalm 89:1; Psalm 145:7 – We are called to sing of God's faithfulness and goodness.<br><br>• All my life You have been faithful → Deuteronomy 7:9; Lamentations <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMbcB61JWGo&t=202">3:22</a>–23 – God is faithful through every generation.<br><br>• All my life You have been so, so good → Psalm 34:8; Psalm 100:5 – "Taste and see that the Lord is good."<br><br>• With every breath that I am able → Psalm 150:6 – "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord."<br><br>• I love Your voice → John 10:27 – "My sheep hear My voice."<br><br>• You have led me through the fire → Isaiah 43:2; Daniel 3:24–27 – God is with us through the fire.<br><br>• In darkest night You are close like no other → Psalm 23:4 "Though I walk through the valley... You are with me." Hebrews 13:5 – "I will never leave you nor forsake you."<br><br>• I've known You as a Father → Romans 8:15; 1 John 3:1 – We are God's children.<br><br>• I've known You as a Friend → John 15:15 – "I have called you friends."<br><br>• Your goodness is running after me → Psalm 23:6 – "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow (pursue) me all the days of my life." (The Hebrew word "radaph" means to pursue or chase after.)<br><br>• With my life laid down, I'm surrendered now → Romans 12:1; Galatians 2:20 – Offer your life completely to God.<br><br>• I give You everything → Mark 12:30; Philippians 3:7–8 – Love God with all your heart and count everything else as loss compared to Christ.

Justin Peters said: "If you want to hear God speak, read your Bible. If you want to hear God speak audibly, read your Bible out loud."

I almost died. I was very sick and went through some serious health struggles and even had brain surgery. The line about "I've known You through the fire" and "in the darkest night You are close like no other" means SO MUCH to me because He saw me through everything!!! It's my story!!! ❤ In the night, i only had Him! As for His goodness running after me..that experience taught me to trust Him deeply. I then used that to pray for my son who was an atheist for three years. A year and a half ago he came to the Lord and a few months ago his wife did!! BUT....I sang this when he was still lost!!! Because God is still good!!!!❤❤❤

Jesus said “My sheep hear my voice” . Voice implies spoken not just written.

This is a song I will never stop singing… It reminds me of King David and how he had to encourage himself in the Lord. He says in the book of Psalms “ surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life “ he also said I would have lost hope unless I believed I would see the goodness of God in the land of the living. So for me the overarching theme is biblical.

Just made me think of the old hymn: "and he walks with me and he talks with me, and he tells me I am his own". Wondering what the difference is? I'm no fan of Bethel, by any means. But the Bible does speak of "that still small voice." I don't know what Bethel specifically teaches on this, but every child of God should learn how to discern his "voice". To know if it's really God or not. Yes God speaks through scripture. But he can also speak in other ways...but all those 'other ways', need to line up with the character of God and His word. No one should ever pretend to hear his voice just to fit in with the crowd.

I pray that you hear GOD's voice. He is Father. Father's speak.

I like the german translation of this song because it translates "I love your voice" as "I love your word". Its probably just because the syllables fit better this way, but it also makes it way more singable for me.
