On top of Apple Orchard Mountain (and along the Blue Ridge Parkway) there's a fenced-off, abandoned RADAR base. During the early Cold- War era, it was looking for Soviet bombers. It ran 24/7 for years, and sported a movie theater, barber shop, sleeping quarters, a bowling alley, etc.

I want to clear something up about the house on hidden hills lane. I've had personal dealings with this property so I can speak on that. <br><br>The sign about the trespassing applied only to when the prince owned it. It's left up as a deterrent, but has no factual backing any longer.<br><br>Going up and taking pictures is for the most part is usually fine, however the house is alarmed so don't enter it.

Have you ever checked out central state hospital on the dinwiddie Petersburg line on route 1? I worked there years back.... Checked out a lot of the buildings at night. Pretty terrible things went on. Would love to give you the insider rundown sometime
