"Sometimes this is the pep talk you need". THIS is the point of the song. Angel has so far not responded to other forms of help, and his whole coping mechanism is acting like everything is okay, but getting reality checked that his situation sucks but that he's not alone in it and that maybe if he opens up to others they can help him deal with the pain of what he's going through is exactly what he needs to hear.

Man, the idea of doing these song without the context of the show is wild.

I find it hilarious when this song is put side by side with something like "More Than Anything" and people realise its the same show lol.

I do unironically love this kind of “pep talk” though. Like “yeah you’ve been through a A LOT of fucked up shit, I’m not gonna sugarcoat it your life seems pretty messed up. But hey, so is mine, so neither of us have to deal with it alone.”

Always loved Keith David as a voice actor, but before this I didn't realise he was a great singer as well.

And once he's listened to all of these songs so wildly out of order, he needs to watch the show (in order!) so he can finally have the context :)
