I rarely make comments on YouTube videos. But felt compelled to for this one. This is a really professional production. Both interesting and poignant. A fitting tribute to Paterson Hughes DFC. YouTube is full of terrible AI created and narrated videos - I hate them. When I saw AI enhanced visuals at the beginning of this videos I exited, thinking it was an 'AI video'. Something made me go back and I'm so glad I did. So, perhaps you should say something in the title. Or even better in the start of the video that would tell the viewer that although AI was used to enhance the video, that it was made and narrated by a human. I'm sure you'd think of a professional way to get this message across to maximise the number of viewers and subscribers. Many thanks, and well done!

What a hero, he gave his all to the battle of Briton, another Australian who you never hear about ... They were shooting down planes with light ammunition, hence getting in close to make 2 seconds burst of fire to bring down better armed air crafts which took huge amounts of courage so to me a true hero. Thanks for doing Pats story...

Pat was a distant cousin of my wife's father, also RAAF. You have bought Pat to life. Thank you.

I knew Middle Wallop and Andover well, but, despite being involved in local history and aviation, sadly, never heard of Pat. Thank you for giving him the immortality he so richly deserves.

Another brilliant documentary, thank you so much for the time and effort you put in to these! In a world of Ai generated and narrated garbage it is now a rare treat to see the passion and accuracy that you create. Thank you again from Australia.

Thank you so very much for such a remarkable documentary. Pat Hughes is my father’s great uncle and some of this information I had never known about until now. This was just amazing to watch again thank you so very very much.

Hi Philip from Sydney, Australia, yet another exceptional episode, I'm 70 years old now and this made me feel VERY emotional. As my dad was a pilot in the RAAF, was a couple of years younger than Pat, however dad's fighting group were WELL AWARE of Pat's amazing kill rate. Dad served in a variety of arenas of war and stayed in the RAAF well after WW2's finish, he worked on the Aussie clean up team where all useful items were brought back from abandoned fields on the islands near Australia so they could be reused or recycled. My dad passed away just days after his 93rd birthday in July 2013, like Pat he lived to fly and was doing so by age 16 before he was allowed behind a car wheel as a learner driver. When young pre-WW2 he flew to round up sheep on massive properties in western New South Wales, rough land on flat fields so my granddad or great uncles could get out and feel the sheep fleeces to see how greasy, dirty and burr encrusted they were prior to shearing, as dad's family had several massive wool scouring and carbonizing plants cleaning the fleeces and extracting the lanoline. When the RAAF saw his skills, he was sent straight into the hornet nest of war. He flew until his early 80's owning 1959 wing over Cesena and an early twin engine and rotor 400 series Cesena from the late '60's. When I was a kid mum would say can you see "herman the german" behind us ?? as dad seemed to always fly with the vigor of someone being chased. Once in the start of the '70's an idiot did an unsolicited take off and turn in the controlled airspace of Sydney's Bankstown airport right in front of dad's almost brand-new Cesena 400, he needed to take radical and instant evasive action, his war years dogfights and escape maneuvers saved our family of four. Then there was his radio call to the idiot where he said the idiot was lucky he wasn't flying a plane with machine guns !! to land immediately and wait for DCA (dept civil aviation) officials to come and explain the near miss due to stupidity.

These were brave, tough, forthright young men in early basic planes. Never again will we see this RAW bravery in a war arena compared to way more safe modern machines of war. These young WW2 fliers were truly amazing.

Pat was my father's youngest brother. His story has been told many times and recently his biography was published in 2016 called "A Spitfire Pilot's Story" Pat Hughes Battle of Britain Top Gun. I have noted several people claim some relationship with my uncle and if so they might think about contacting the John Nichols Family Society. Our family goes back to the first fleet. John Nichols was Pat's great Grandfather who arrived on the "Scarborough" on 26 January 1888. The JNFS has a Facebook page and easily found.
