  Reason Halo stopped being popular is because it&apos;s stopped being a niche, own thing.<br><br>Microsoft and 343i wanted to make Halo mainstream, like Call of Duty, in their twisted minds it meant more money.<br><br><br>Now?<br><br>They&apos;re paying the price for their stupidity.

  The UNSC was always written to be morally gray. But that was the cool part about original Halo. It wasn&apos;t all up in your face. It was something to think about if you want to think about it a little bit more. 343 decided to make that the whole gosh darn point. As well as 343 forcing a stupid love story between Chief and Cortana.<br><br>Halo was always about epic set pieces within a Sci-Fi Opera. With Lovecraftian horror. And all coated in biblical symbology.<br><br>And of course Bungie&apos;s lore, humans are Forerunner. The irony that the covenant were killing their own gods from orders from false prophets.

  They could have made the didact a human who was locked away because he thought that the flood was the apex species. He could have led a rebellion against the other humans eventually losing. you can even keep the storm covenant just make it to where the are hyper fanatical and think they are awaking one of their gods only for a human to step out maybe they have nothing left and they follow him willingly he goes and frees other forerunners. they could know about locations outside the milky way where they kept flood life and maybe they infect the storm covenant with them.

A good PR campaign and new armor doesn&apos;t impress me when I know, nay I lived with the Legend. You can&apos;t rewrite the story I know/lived and expect me to be cool with it. <br><br>I feel like the marines from those Halo 3 trailers going through the museum of history, if anyone remembers those.
