I never really thought about how the nature vs. technology theme of the original sonic games really hasn't been revisted in a modern story. Even in Sonic Forces, it's more about Eggman taking over the world than him making everything into robots.
Maybe they should make another Sonic game that emphasizes those elements again, not to the degree of bladerunner, but at least a little more.

Putting metal sonic in the thumbnail is like dangling keys infront of an infant for me

All us old head Sonic fans from the US wanting the characters of Archie Sonic to be cannon. The Freedom Fighters will always be my Sonic universe. Although the new cast of characters in IDW have definitely earned their place too (Love me some Tangle and Whisper)

Scrap Brain Zone is a pretty big homage to Blade Runner, between the zone background (the fire belching chimneys) and the zone's music.

While Dominus analyzes the "Cyberpunk" side of Sonic, he senses a larger Shadow of a genre deep in the series' core: the Blue Blur's "shonen anime blood"... 🦔👟💎💥🔥

I will always have as canon that Metal is sonic from the bad future where Robotnik roboticied him like Uncle Chuck

The main theory of metal Sonic touching the metal virus was If this touches Sonic then he becomes a machine, but if it touches Metal Sonic will it become real, organic Sonic?

I wish that Robotropolis is added into the lore of the games as either a industrial city that’s part of the background in Scrap Brain Zone on South Island from Sonic 1 and the Final Zone will be taking place inside Robotnik’s Headquarters from Sonic SatAM complete with Cluck & SWATbots as enemies alongside the Badniks, and Eggman’s nephew Snively as the boss of Scrap Brain Zone Act 3 or as a capital city that’s part of Chemical Plant Zone, Oil Ocean Zone, & Metropolis Zone on Westside Island from Sonic 2.

Damn, this video went hard.
And I do miss the more dystopia-punk elements as someone who started with SatAM.
Probably why a lot of fan works trys to bring it back, like that Sonic Rave fangroup I joined back in my Deviantart days.

Great work, great video. well Done and said DominusTV.
And yes, I agree Cyberpunk have been a part of Sonic world Dna since the The 90s.
Sure, there are elements of that—in *Sonic Prime*, a bit in the IDW comics, and some in the games. But I’ve been a Sonic fan for a long time, and I miss the days when Sonic’s world had a proper name, a history, a population, and a touch of magic like the golden rings. The Freedom Fighters, The Eggman Empire holds immense control over the world through sub-bosses, Swatbots, and the Roboticizer.

Could you perhaps do a video on all of Sonic's robot doppelgangers. perhaps how they relate to cyberpunk themes, some of them are radically different from the original.

Every time I see Tails holding a modern tablet that's themed after his head, I die a little inside. Every early Sonic until '06 had a distinct dystopic/y2k aesthetic, then they threw it away. Nothing about the franchise had been as interesting or visually distinct since then.
