For the high-voltage indicator, one reason I can think of is that, when it’s over-range, it doesn’t know the actual voltage. So to be “safe”, it says: Hi! Potential high voltage!

That capacitance measurement isn't just slow, it's so slow that the cap may have aged and gone bad by the time the result is shown.

Your channel was what turned me to Fluke meters. Started collecting them when I would find them at random goods auctions and flea markets. Latest find was a 7-600 for $5... I didn't even know what it was since they are rather rare. Favorite is still the old 8000A with the red LCD display. No idea if the battery was replaced before I bought it, but I charged it once 10 years ago and it still turns on and works.
