If you are noticing audio sync issues, it is because of YouTube’s new “feature” called Stable Volume. It’s automatically turned on and can desync a lot of videos.
Turn it off in the settings of this video to fix the problem :)

From what I’d read, the Chinese that Remmick speaks is indeed a hyper-specific dialect that was spoken by immigrants living in the Delta at that time - and he’s also intentionally speaking it with an Irish accent, to further illustrate the “assimilation” idea.

So yeah, there’s several layers on his pronunciation in that scene.

Alcohol was illegal in the US from 1920-1933. That’s why they were shocked that they had real beer.

It's very refreshing to see two people who knew basically nothing about the premise and genuinely be surprised when the change in direction happens

Props to vampires for judging people not by the color of their skin, but by the contents of their arteries.

As a choctaw myself it was fun hearing our language in this movie.

Choctaws bury their dead by 1st putting the body out in the sun. 2nd we take out all the bones and put them in the "bone house".

Rimmick was scared because of this reason. He kept singing Pick Poor Robin clean. He is "Robin". He knows if the Choctaws gets ahold of him he is forever dead because not only will he burn but he cant get his bones to reform.

Fun fact: It's particularly significant that Remmick is introduced fleeing from Choctaw hunters. Not only is the movie set in the historic Choctaw homeland, there is a long history of cooperation between the Choctaw (and Native America more broadly) and the Irish. The Irish Potato Famine occurred sixteen years after the Choctaw, Cherokee, Muscogee, Seminole, and Chickasaw peoples were forced to walk the Trail of Tears. Knowing tragedy and hunger themselves, Choctaw and Cherokee survivors donated hundreds of dollars to support famine relief. In 2017, Ireland erected the Kindred Spirits sculpture in acknowledgment of friendship between the two peoples, with a companion sculpture called Eternal Heart installed on Choctaw land in 2024. When the Coronavirus Pandemic began in 2020 and the Navajo and Hopi nations were hit especially hard, Ireland sent a two million dollar donation, accrediting it to Choctaw kindness in their time of need.

The Chinese spoken in the movie is Taishanese, a dialect from the Taishan region of Guangdong, China. Many early Chinese immigrants in the U.S., especially in the Mississippi Delta and railroad communities spoke Taishanese

I like how everyone understands that when he starts singing directly after telling the lynching story that’s just to like get the pain out.

It's so amazing that because Delta Slim is the comic relief, most people don't catch that he's pretty much the saddest character in the movie, in-universe and meta. He represents so much of the black community. Masterful.

The celtic gold coin , the irish folk dancing , his story of christianity forced upon his people... Remmick is clearly an ancient irish celt , pre christianisation. That makes him around a thousand years old. There are a lot of subtle hints during this movie that make it a piece of art.
