  Some time ago a lightning strike hit my beloved FTDX5000MP Limited. Yesterday I received news from the repair shop that it is not economically feasible to repair it, so now I am looking for a new rig. I am considering a SDRPlay RSPDuo as a receive unit and possibly the Yaesu FTX-1 Optima for transmit. I will connect them using OmniRig and a RX/TX switch. I like the interface of SDRConnect and the RSPDuo can receive from 1KHz to 10GHz so I can use it for more than just ham radio communication. This setup also allow me to do some tinkering instead of a turnkey solution and the FTX-1 is portable enough that I can bring it with me if I need to

  I spread the blades opposite of one another, as they typically are loose from the factory and this leads to the arcing. No issues since doing that when I was operating 757d in the field. Nice rig! de KC4WZB

  I have an ft-991a which has the same general capabilities as far as band coverage and c4fm. Of course its screen is nowhere near as nice but I’d love to hear about a comparison regarding filtering and receiver sensitivity etc. <br>thanks !!

  I was considering a 891/510 combo for my truck, possibly with an ATAS for the HF side. I could get all of that for less than an FTX1 Optima, but maybe this instead in one box? 891 has to be getting a little long in the tooth. I’d be curious to see how the FTX1 does with the ATAS both with and without the Optima.
