I used a MALDOL 10M whip indoors with an FT817 at five watts. Worked Seattle, WA Field Day station from Phoenix, Arizona. Not the best signal, but it WAS a QSO. 73 de W7TBC WV7HS

It's hard to watch you call CQ for so long with very limited responses.<br>In my testing of ultra-lightweight portable vertical antennas, I have come to the conclusion that the best in terms of efficiency on multiple bands, is the Gabil GRA-7350T even though I do not own this model.<br>I own the GRA-1900T and the GRA-RPG and have done extensive testing with them both. <br>Conclusion: you want the most "meat" in the air with a telescoping whip and a sliding coil, not a fixed or tapped coil.<br>Result: with its 2.17 meter telescoping whip and its sliding coil, the GRA-7350T will get you much better efficiency on your portable Activations.<br>It may be "fun" to experiment with shorter portable whips, but at the end of the day, your time is too valuable to waste. You do not want a race to the bottom.<br>Get a GRA-7350T and show us an Activation video using it! I will bet dollars to donuts, you will get more replies!
