highcord failed because they didn't have The Lash, and we all know it

My head canon is that The Lash will wish to cure Miss Shelly just so he can lord over Bepop that he's better than the junk golem cause he made the wish that Bebop wanted to

There isn't live service fatigue, there's only bad games fatigue

I think another reason the character design in Deadlock works so well is because each character only knows about the characters it makes sense for them to know. Rem doesn't know anyone and his dialog is a lot of first impressions, Mo and Krill know many of the criminal characters and catches up with them, Dynamo knows Ivy's sister and offers to give her a recommendation, Holiday is from out of town and doesn't know anyone personally but has heard of some of the more famous characters, the cast is full of connections like this. It's just one of those small details that adds a lot to how coherent the setting is.

In an alpha, Deadlock has a soul AAA slop wish it could have on a full release.

This game is so amazing. Sometimes I just sit and listen to everyone's voice lines

I think Valve’s strongest point is that they don’t just take time to build lore, they build it in a way that people living in that world feels believable.

The idea that if you ended up there, you could live there just fine.

Concord is tragic because the game was SUPPOSED to have an extremely unique and stylized look based off the work of the legendary sci-fi artist, Moebius.
But clearly corporate got involved at some point and demanded they go for something more realistic, which trapped the game in this really muddy middle-ground.

In TF2 all the classes have the same merc motivation as highguard, however each has a different reason for wanting money and why they thought fighting was the best way to get it. Even will all the same motivation you can have more flavor.

Will say that in the last decade there has been a lot of of the Girl Boss Trope going around. Though Deadlock turns the trope on its head and made the Girl Failure Trope, in which both Vyper and Silver have explained that they made a lot of poor life choices but are still up for seeing if the Patron can help them out. That trope is refreshing as the characters admit that they have faults, which makes them more realistic as characters.

I think the third-person perspective was also just a great choice for this game. With such amazing character designs getting able to always see the character you play and their interactions ups how cool it is to play them.

My getting into Deadlock is a simple story: "Valve has a new free-to-play game? I gotta try that!" That's it.
