  its especially like ai relationships in the way that nikki literally no longer has a life outside of him. in the way that an ai model cant text you first, and is inactive once you close the tab, nikki sat in the living room in the dark for like 10 hours.

  I had the exact same thoughts on my first watch. When Nikki goes "I did just lose my cat bear" and then sees that confused him, she recalibrates like an LLM and then goes "I mean you lost YOUR cat" which then lands, and that info filed away

  That actually makes a lot of sense. I just rewatched the movie the other day and noticed the phrase &quot;This work may not be used to train AI&quot; in the end credits (the first time I&apos;ve seen this in my memory). This perspective makes the story even more terrifying...

  This is what i thought after seeing it. &apos;Nikki&apos; knows all about Nikki&apos;s past life, but learning new things it has no context to interpret it. It newly learns &apos;Bear loves his dead cat&apos;, and &apos;Bear wants to be a food critic&apos;, interprets them literally, then combines the 2 things it knows about him to hilariously horrible effect. &nbsp;No clue about whats socially appropriate either, just trying out whatever it can till it gets a positive response. Bear even treats her like an AI girlfriend, &quot;just stay here while Im gone&apos;. Its great! Its also probably Nikki&apos;s writings that are used in the 2 weirdly long eloquent speeches, trying to reconcile that Nikki thought of Bear as a little brother... Just recombining old data to fit it&apos;s current purpose.

  This is probably a stretch but I think the potential AI allegory makes what happens to Nikki and Sarah especially cruel and depressing. We don’t get much about Ian or Bear’s actual aspirations, but Nikki AND Sarah have dreams that involve creating things, with Nikki wanting to be a writer and Sarah wanting to be a tattoo artist. Going with the AI angle, I think it’s pretty much implied that real Nikki would not use AI at all due to the fact that she was going to quit her job to write her love story, something that’s authentic to her. When she’s possessed, just like you said, all of her character and goals in life go away just to mindlessly love Bear and cater to his needs. <br><br>Sarah also got brutally killed the day she got accepted into her dream school. It’s cruel, but with the AI angle, this “AI Nikki” also takes all of Sarah’s experiences and style and cheaply tries to copy it in order for Bear to love her. Like she even scalped Sarah’s hair, drew on her tattoos, and tried to huff a ton of cigarettes in front of him to mimic her smoking problem without the context of all of Sarah’s history, personal likes and style, and lived experiences. And the entity tried to do the same with Nikki, but because Bear didn’t even know much about her and the nature of his selfish wish, it will disregard even trying to mimic the muse Bear thought of in his mind in order to make him love and stay with her. While I don’t think it’s a perfect 1 to 1 parallel, I think with how AI is affecting all creative spaces, it makes a very depressing allusion.

  I figured my distaste of Bear the moment I saw him in the trailer would show up at the start of the film when I went to see it, but I did not expect it to start with him using a ChatGPT like program to ask a question he could&apos;ve easily googled. And seeing how Nikki made an Ai image only after they started dating when she was a writer/creative who would reasonably be against that said a lot without saying anything at all to me.

  Yeah I had the exact same thoughts about how wish Nikki was basically a chatbot girlfriend. Even when she would have her little meltdowns (“NONONONONONONO!!!!”) it reminded me of those videos that show ai YouTube channels having a stroke because they get stuck on a word
