Great segment! The concept of a long grass return to the earth burial while attempt to keep animals out to provide peace to the process. Up on a hill all those around use it and all those around remember and pay tribute is a kind past to a life cycle.

Farmer here....Gotta love Phil! <br>Rather than something esoteric like a ritual burial ground I think the tools and pottery being found adjacent and associated with charcoal seems more like a food preparation area (butchering and cooking etc) than an area for ritual body disposal. The enclosure being somewhere to keep animals, maybe some dwellings and general living area and protection against wild animals and other people? <br>When interpreting these sites I think Time Team generally place too much emphasis on rituals and forget that for prehistoric people survival was 1st priority. Just getting food and shelter, protection from the elements, wild animals and marauders would consume most of their energy.
