Poor Chris! The trouble is, if you follow Vitruvius' recipe for "Egyptian blue" it won't work- although it worked for Vitruvius. This is because the recipe is missing an essential ingredient- but it's thought that Vitruvius' soda was from the Wadi-al-Natrun in Egypt, and was contaminated with natron...which can be used as the last ingredient!<br>So our modern, pure ingredients are wholly unsuitable to use in this ancient recipe. But I don't know when this was figured out, and if it was known at all when this TT was filmed.

One of the earliest TT episodes we got to see. So much wonderful digging and finding and understanding! (And still love the convo between Mark Carney and Stewart about the water trace with 'ye old patent Roman Pregnancy Test')

As the time/team pointed out 'Cirencester'was the second largest city in Roman Britain, but when I worked there in 82' the excavated Roman era was small in comparison overall.Also Chedwell manor was excellent for the Roman latrine's😮
