  Saw part two for the first time 20ish years ago as a teenager. That jump scare in the radio station still lives rent free in my head! 😅

  Between TCM2 and Blue Velvet, 1986 truly blessed us with peak Dennis Hopper.

  Just as TCM was a product of its time, TCM2 was also a product of its time. &nbsp;The wild and zany 80s. &nbsp;The movie makes sense in that context.

  I’ve always had a weird affection for this one precisely because it’s such a swing. It’s messy, wildly uneven, and occasionally feels like everyone involved wandered in from a different movie — but there’s something wonderfully unhinged about it. 😂 Where it loses me is turning Leatherface into the joke. You can make the world around the monster funny, but once the monster himself stops feeling dangerous, you’ve changed the contract with the audience. Still, I’d rather watch a sequel take a crazy swing than just photocopy the original. Great discussion, Mike. 🔪

  I swear, you give the most level headed takes on these movies. I&apos;m 45 years old and so I was a little kid when this film was released in 1986, but I remember watching both it and the original in probably 87 or 88 when I was 6 or 7 years old.<br><br>Honestly, my opinion hasn&apos;t changed on them all of these years later. I loved both of them then, and I love both of them now.<br><br>Tobe was never going to try and capture that 1974 vibe. Not because it couldn&apos;t be done, but because it wouldn&apos;t have been as effective the 2nd time anyway. <br><br>I will always prefer the first film and the Leatherface from that film and it would have been awesome to see that version return, but I&apos;m totally fine with what we got with TCM II also. It&apos;s still a really fun version, and this movie is still fun and disturbing in some places. The assault on the jockey guy is still disturbing even though it is over the top. <br><br>I would give the original film 5 stars and TCM II 4 stars. Maybe a half a star more on a really good day. This movie to me does for TCM what Return of the Living Dead does for zombie films. At least for me.

  I really liked Leatherface in the original because he had something about him that showed he was confused about how things were going, a little frightened, and that made it so much scarier. In the Texas chainsaw massacre 2 he was just like some goofy dude

  I really liked part 2. I liked that Hooper didn’t try to top or redo the horror of 1 and just did something wacky and fun..as much as I enjoy it, it’s nowhere near as good as part 1.
