Remember when the history channel used to have shows on actual history? It’s not just school, we’ve dumbed down our entire society.

The government wants this to happen. If you are uneducated you are easier to manipulate.

If social media companies turned off the sound and turned on subtitles for a week these kids would learn to read real quick.

It's no longer an education system it's a nation wide babysitting system.

Toddlers + screen time = No attention span, poor impulse control, little emotional regulation, absent social skills. AI can't help you with that in life, now can it?

Passing these kids on and not addressing their issues is the exact opposite of doing what they need. I was a child that received one-on-one help for most of elementary school for reading, writing, and spelling. I went on to become valedictorian. Early intervention is everything and meeting kids where they are at to build these skills is the only way they have a chance to be successful adults.

I attended high school in the 1970s. No internet, no mobile phones, no screens except for films and filmstrips. Calculators existed, but we were not allowed to use them.

As a former teacher and principal, I watched the chaos unfold. Gobs of money were not being directed to schools, but to Towns. Male teachers were reduced on purpose. The women became mommies instead of instructors. I even had a parent send me a note saying, "My kid is in school. He is your responsibility from 8 - 3:00. Do NOT contact me during these times. Can you imagine?

If kids are passed to the next grade regardless, why would parents think there's an issue?

Children are a direct reflection of their parents.

The African American gentleman who says TEACH YOUR CHILD TO READ hits on something we need to focus on MUCH more!
Parents hear that and think "I don't know how to teach my child how to read!" and those parents may likely be correct!

The missing piece here is parents failing to teach kids that reading is IMPORTANT!

Teach your child to read means "Let your child see you reading, *even if you, yourself, struggle with reading*!!! Read with your child. Let your child read to you, and praise them!

Turn off the dang TV, put down your phone.. and read to them. It can be "GoodNight Moon" or it can be the infamous book "GO THE F*** to SLEEP".
Make READING into something important in the eyes of your child! (even if you don't think it's important for *you*)
