The reason i was drawn into those spaces so easily was because i didnt have a male role model in my life. Sure i have a dad but he never showed emotion around me, he never gave me advice besides the "man up", "men dont cry" type bs. I think the main cause around what is happening is because we dont have a sense of community anymore, and the only places men get accepted without friction is in these spaces. P

If you don't raise your child, someone else will, and in our current society, that "someone" is on the internet.

There's an old african proverb I heard once " the boy who's not accepted by the village, will burn it down to feel it's warmth"

Honestly, the no sleep thing is silly because sleep is like the healthiest thing in the world.

“Instead of helping men heal and grow, it feeds the very pain they’re trying to escape” powerful words sis.

I don’t think Andrew Tait is being serious half the time (sleeping isn’t masculine etc). But given his audience are kids and very young adults, they take him literally.

I’m a 21 year old guy, I’ve never been on a date. I remember one time in high school, a girl I liked asked me for help with her boyfriend, and I was venting to my dad about it. I don’t remember exactly what I said, but it was some sort of “niceguy” thing about how much better I would be for her. I don’t have the greatest relationship with my dad, but I’ll always be grateful for what he said. He just told me “yeah, maybe you would be. But she doesn’t owe you anything for that.” It sort of burrowed in my brain and started to reshape my whole world view. I was raised on shows and media like the office, where the guy gets the girl just by being nice, or at least that’s what my adolescent brain saw when I watched. So it genuinely didn’t occur to me that some people were just never going to be interested in me that way. It still sucks when I’m interested in someone who isn’t interested in me. And it’s hard to reconcile that hurt with the fact that no one is at fault for it, but I just try to be empathetic and better myself as a person, not for anyone else, but because I just want to be a better person for me. Maybe someone will fall for that, maybe they won’t, but I’ll be able to look at myself in the mirror.

12:03 This whole part is so true. When I was in high school, I was "in love" with a boy. I opened up to him, invited him to the movies, but he rejected me. I cried for a day, but moved on. That same year, another boy confessed to me, but I was not into him, and I was still processing my rejection in peace. However, this boy became a devil. He was an emo and "hated Evanescence because it was too mainstream". He would leave letters and poetry describing my unalivement under my desk (mostly stabbing and poisoning). He would spend whole weeks not going to school and posting on social media that he was about to unalive himself. He would paint me as the cause of his unalivement to the whole school. He would call me everyday to tell me how miserable his life was, and I listened, because I was too young to understant the danger that he imposed. Once, he spent a whole week trying to invade my social account. And he did. He deleted a bunch of my photos and unfollowed a friend of mine that he disliked. At one time, he followed me to the administration, in which the path was empty, and tried to pull me to a bathroom. I yelled and fought back until a student came and made him stop. After graduating, I closed all of my social media and started fresh under a nickname. Only at my 30's that I understood how fucked up the whole thing was.

As a parent of a boy of 15 and a - full grown adult - daughter of 22yo, we talk a lot about everything, and we do discuss their feelings, mood swing, boundaries, how to deal with bullying, frustration, rejection, sadness and anger. We have been doing it ever since they were toddlers. It's something my parents never did, but I'm involved and interested in my children and what's happening in their lives. I want them to be happy, to know themselves and how to survive in this world. Parenting must go beyond feeding and sending them out to strangers to be molded.

For me I'd rather be left alone than to take part in an abusive relationship

I agree but i also think it is underestimated how many women/mothers buy into the masculine philosophy. My son had a friend who seemed like a lovely boy with lovely parents. Then i started to notice him becoming more aggressive and short tempered with low tolerance for disagreement. I asked his dad if he was ok and his dad told me it was his mum filling him with ideas about what women want i.e. a bit if a bad boy, a strongman, someone who others respect immediately but what she really meant was intimidated . I saw it for myself when our families went out together to a fairground, i didn't let him visit their house after that. This mindset has become so entrenched that it is sometimes exhibited by either/both parents to some extent
