Anyone can be quick when the gun goes off for the first 400 but then maintaining it is a different story, good video

Worked with Dr Will for only a few months and his training philosophy took me from 1:23 to 1:19:48 half marathon - pace that I thought was beyond me! Thanks Doc

This is the most mind blowing concept ive ever heard. I played soccer my entire life and then after college i got into bodybuilding so i didnt do much cardio. Now after bodybuilding ive been trying to get back into shape the past few months but ive been doing the stair master and bike and burning my legs out and just couldnt seem to go as hard each day. I was exhausted. Started jogging esrlier this week with this concept in mind and I literally feel as if im not even getting a workout in. I actually gave my legs/joints a break today from running as they are sore and decided to do a 3mph walk on a 15 incline and noticed my heart rate was down 10bpm compared to 2 weeks ago doing the exact same walk. Absolutely mind blowing. And it felt so easy!

Last month i decided to give it a try. I did the talk test on a stationary bike and it seems my zone 2 is at 145-150bpm, i"m 40 btw. I used it for my easy run but guess what? My easy run pace 10min/km is at 170bmp 😂. I didn't lost hope though and just stick to the pace for about a month. My 10min/km pace is now at 140-150. The only problem is, it starts to drift with +10bpm per km added to 5km. Still not losing hope because it makes my tempo run stable at 170bpm for 3km at 7:30min/km. I'm new to running.

Have only recently discovered your profile and this video in particular was a lightbulb moment.

I’ve been reading and listening over and over again in the past few years about running slow and developing the aerobic system, but I’ve never really understood it until now.
You’ve explained concisely why aerobic fitness doesn’t happen at higher HR, and even after running 9 marathons, and have a half decent time for my age, I’m not aerobically fit enough!
I’ve blown up in a couple of marathons, and I know it wasn’t my fuelling or hydration, I started too fast or I wasn’t fit enough for the pace.
You hit the nail on the head when you said I can run fast for short distances, so I know I can run fast. I need a bigger engine.

Today I ran much slower than usual, and I even walked up hills, as my HR was jumping as you mention.

Slower and more miles is the way forward! Thanks for your videos and I hope your running is going well.

FITNESS That's what Parker Valby said when she came in second to Katelyn Tuohy. It was in reference to her using the elliptic trainer which is what I now plan on doing when it's too wet to train on dirt (clay mud) trails this winter.

I get it that slow running is important for recovery and mitochondria density, but slow running alone surely will not make you fast. What kind of faster running would you recommend to increase hearth and lung strength? For hearth maybe long grey zone runs, but for lungs some faster intervals?
