  To people in the know, it wasn't just the TBIs from crashes, all his affairs ended him up with neurosyphilis. He was very well known to pay off doctors for their silence in both his raging opioid addiction and syphilis (there's no cure for neurosyphilis once it does the damage)

  Another factor in his descent into irrationality was his wealth: when you&apos;re that rich and powerful you rapidly become surrounded by &apos;yes men&apos; sychophants who will never challenge your behaviour, or try to pull you up.<br><br>Never being criticized is, ironically, &nbsp;psychologically damaging.

  When I was a kid Howard Hughes was just known to my age mates some extremely rich weirdo who lived in a dark room and wore empty Kleenex boxes on his feet and never trimmed his nails. I was surprised when I was older and found out how much he had been known for before he went off the rails.

  I worked at Hughes aircraft co in the ‘70”s. &nbsp; The guys there in the ‘60’s said Howard used to come by and chat with the engineers

  The CiA was after him just like Forestall and many, many other people have been. He had broken his body in a crash, was the reason for his addiction to pain medicine.

  I think the best bio is Citizen Hughes. Told in his own prolific notes it gives an intimate view into his mindset.
