  I&apos;ve always thought Mary Todd Lincoln got a terrible assessment from history. If I went through everything she did, I could see myself having mental issues. Seeing my husband shot in front of the. Sure. Having three of my sons die in childhood? Oh yeah. And mood-altering mental illness is something I wouldn&apos;t wish on anyone.

  This one was fascinating. You usually only get to know about Abraham Lincoln&apos;s wife is passing. I remember learning that many women after world war one also turned to spiritualists to speak to the dead. When loved ones die mysteriously you crave for some answers.

  She suffered with bipolar which explains uncontrolled spending, highs that are exuberant and lacking in boundaries. Probably what made her seem uncouth. I can&apos;t imagine her pain during the lows and grief compounding it all. Abe suffered from such bad depression they had to remove knives and hide them in the house. Many times friends would stay with him to prevent self deletion. They had a tough marriage and life from mental illness and trama.
