It's ironic that the #1 complaint of FIFA is the assumption of corruption, favoritism, and lack of transparency, and that private equity involvement would simply make all of that official and more transparent. Let's also not consider UEFA as 100% altruistic - the federation stands to have its financial leadership, control, and dominance over global football eroded if PE were to get involved with big tourneys and marketing.

Rarely do we get an Apple-to-Apple Comparison, between World Cup Teams.
But, WC22 and WC26 Starting Line-ups, are Easy to Compare.
6 Players Repeated in the Starting Line-up.
Of the other 5… 3 where Upgrades; Position-for-Position;
Balo for Sargent(Jesus)
Tillman for Musah
Richards for Zimmerman
1 Position was “Upgrade” because of Tactical Set-up Change;
Dropped Right-Wing and Played with a Right-CenterBack;
Freeman for Weah
Goalkeeper was MEH; FROZE for Turner{In Retrospect, Turner would Not have Messed around with the Ball Outside of the Penalty Area… He would have WOOFED it 80yrds}
SO, we had a BETTER TEAM in WC26… No IF, ANDs, or BUTTs.!!!
And How did a $12million Dollar, “World Class” Coach DO, with this BETTER ROSTER.???
WORSE.!!!
**Paraguay…1st Game was against a Team that, using WC22 Qualifying Standards, WOULD NOT HAVE QUALIFIED. Paraguay was the #6 Qualifier in 2026. In 2022, Only 4 Teams, “Direct Qualified” out of S.America.
{Paraguay was 8th in 2022 }
[Peru as 5th place in 2022; they LOST in the “Play-In” versus AUSTRALIA]
SO, While we Played a Excellent 1st Half versus Paraguay…
They Shouldn’t have EVEN BEEN THERE.!!!
**Australia… Well, Let’s Face it, THEY SUCK, And we Didn’t Play Very Well that Game, but, that is Due also to Australian $HiT-Kicker Tactics.
**Turkey… They Only Made it to 2026 via a EURO Play-OFF, That they WOULD NOT have been IN, if it was 2022. Plus we Rotated the Whole Team. Hard to do an A-t-A Comparison, for a Team that Would NOT have made 2022 and “Rotation”
**Bosnia… They only Made it via a EURO Play-Off, That they WOULD NOT Have been IN, if it was 2022. Same as Turkey. We didn’t play very Well, and then the Whole Balogun Red Card Thing…
**Belgium’26… Clearly a WEAKER Team than HOLLAND’22
SO, we Played WORSE, Against WORSE Opponents;
AT HOME;
With a $12Million dollar COACH that was Supposed to FIX OUR ROUND OF 16 “ISSUE”
FOOL Me Once, Shame on You;
FOOL ME TWICE, SHAME ON ME{USSF}.!!!

While I think it’s good that US kept Pochettino, it’s definitely a sign of how poor the state of fandom is of US Soccer. Every other country the outcry of the fanbase and the media would have been too strong after the humiliation of the Belgium game to keep a coach that lost that game. In the U.S. there are probably like 200k-500k passionate fans in the entire country. The rest are only fans during the World Cup. Mexico, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Guatemala all have fans that number in the millions in the USA compared to the USMNT. I think Pochettino likes the gig because it’s relatively low stress but I think he will become disinterested once he sees that that those 200k-500k USmNT fans are not concentrated enough in any area of the country to fill up stadiums especially when there isn’t a build up to a World Cup or the actual World Cup. I personally don’t think the 2026 World Cup will impact the fandom in any meaningful way for non World Cup games.

Saying private equity is only about the bottom line is like saying journalists only care about clicks
