I am 64 with terminal cancer. I found this game totally profound in every sense. From being able to battle like a 25 yr old Samurai to sitting writing Haiku in all of the spectacular places in the game. I am the Dragonborn, i am Bayek, Alexios and have explored the mines of Moria. I am Starborne, I am Arthur and now the Ghost! I have received such incredible reflection from GoT it is difficult to put into words. If i could go into the game in VR i would never come out. Thank you all.

I love the slight indication that Yuna and Jin may have feelings for one another, but it never becomes anything more than a "What if" that runs through their heads. You can absolutely see them together, but it simply isn't the right time for romance, within all the pain and suffering they're trying to fight.
Without the war they would've probably never met, and surely never even entertained eachothers company, not even in a friendly manner, due to their circumstances. But the same situation that brings them together, and makes them both appreaciate eachother, doesn't allow them the option of pursuing anything. That is sad in a way, but feels a lot more real than just forcefully shoving a love story down our throats as well.

Yuriko’s quest line still brings me to tears. Every time I play through it, it genuinely breaks me as I’ve lost close friends here. But I like the fact that the Guiding Wind and the Golden Birds are personifications of loved ones.

If you really think about it Kazumasa sort of pushed Jin to become the ghost since the first thing he guided Jin to was Yuna

A month ago, I finally decided to go for the "Honor Shimura with death" ending. I knew what was in the scene. I was sure it wouldn't trigger anything.

I never cried over a videogame so much

I think at least part of the reason Shimura asks Jin to write the last words of both clan Sakai and Shimura is because he knows that he'll lose to Jin, either because he's not able to keep up with the younger Jin or can't bring himself to kill the man he raised as his son. And since refusing the Shogun's orders would dishonor him as well, Shimura has Jin write the poems in order for him to have a more honorable death in the duel instead of writing his clan's before he commits seppuku.

Fun fact concerning Jin's sword. While they used the much more widely recognizable Katana as his main weapon, in the japanese voice-over they consistently refer to his sword as a tachi. So even while they took these liberties, they honoured the more historically accurate version through their dialogue

One thing you didn't address about the ending, is the the theme of losing your loved one. Nearly every mission (except for Kenji really) has a story element of a person losing family members, including most side missions. Adachi loses her entire family. Ishikawa loses his favored student. Yuna loses her brother. Norio loses his brother. Jin is betrayed by his best friend. Every hostage you save in the open world is surrounded by other dead bodies. The game has building towards the choice of killing your uncle the ENTIRE GAME. Fucking love GOT. GOT is the GOAT.

11:34 Shimura survived because Kohtun hit him with the pommel of the sword. You can barely see it, and I was confused for my first 2 playthroughs about that, but he just knocks him out really fast.

I think the idea of legacy plays a HUGE role in the way they end Khotun. The idea that he will be forgotten, versus Shimura who will not. Where the time was invested by the devs in the end is fitting to which legacy will carry further.

That was how I took it, but I can see how that could frustrating as well. Top 3 all time game in my opinion.
