I've been reverse dieting since May. Have brought my calories up from 1400 to 2000 calories. Lifting heavy. Losing fat. Gaining muscle. Gonna keep going for a few more weeks til 2500. Stay there for 12 weeks and keep building muscle. Then I can do do a mild cut of calories and still be eating 2000 calories. Instead of cutting to 1200!! I'm sleeping amazing. Not hangry. Normal hunger cues. Great lifting energy. I'll never go low calorie again. Wish it didn't take 30 years to figure the is out.

I am 52 years
I walk every day
I eat whatever I want only 3 meals a day. Is NOT doing things for loosing weight. Is doing things we can sustain for the rest of our lives. Is a life style!!! Is enjoying our life but at the same time taking care of our body.

Rachel, I appreciate your no nonsense candor. Being matter of fact is so refreshing. Menopause belly fat so sucks. Not many of us get out of its grasp, but with your education there is hope! I am a 28 year fitness trainer at menopause’s mercy. It is freakin hard! Working with all these tips you have given and hormone replacement help with a functional medicine practitioner, I am trying to figure it out. Because 20 lbs weight gain is NO BUENO!

Actually that’s how humans are designed. Early man ate when he could (he might not eat for two) and he ate fruit in season. Our hormones haven’t changed that much either. (Stress is now mental instead of physical) What HAS changed is the ultra processed “foods” that keep us eating more.

Having said that, this is excellent info!! Slow and steady wins the race!!

I put myself on keto 5 years ago and lost 75 lb in 8 months. Not only did I lose the weight I also lost a crap ton of muscle and I was pretty sickly. I have slowly tried to gain my muscle back and believe it or not it's very painful to do. As a result I gained the 75 lbs back and now I'm trying something else to at least drop 20 lbs. I maintained my water habit. I have not had very much sugar at all and at this point I'm at wits end because all I've lost is 4 lbs in the past 6 months.

I’ve been struggling with perimenopause which caused my nervous system to be hyper-sensitive. Cortisol raging! I had tried to CUT sugar and realized all it did was make my liver dump mounds of it in my system because it was listening to my cortisol. My first step is calming my body and allowing sugars back in, but I’m doing that through small amounts of honey in the morning and my new favourite mid morning snack at work is a date with real peanut butter!! SO GOOD!!
I’ve been gaining weight the past 3 months, but I’m allowing it to be part of the strategy since I think my body is settling and now swinging into protective mode. I’m starting super light weights because even a bit of exercise seems to absolutely exhaust my muscles. And I have tried very slight rebounding after breakfast (like 50 small easy jumps).
I’m trying not to freak out about the weight and to love my body for being protective… but also desperately want to get back to where I feel like I have a better rhythm.
Thank you for your grounded solid channel. I look forward to more. This has been a hard but enlightening three years for me!
