  The difference between Tolkien, and someone who overprepares their worldbuilding is that Tolkein actually published his books.

  I am not a writer, my worldbuilding is mostly for my ttrpg campaigns. But your words ring true still! I am myself was guilty of some of these mistakes and have witnessed way too many game masters make the same mistakes. Especially overdoing worldbuilding. Some GMs are so afraid that they will have improvise during the game that they believe they must prepare everything. And a game never starts...
