  They don't allow dogs in all pubs but most it's traditional.

  Old man from London here, always have a tab for beer in my local, most do. Also other pubs that ain't my local. Sit at the end of the bar out the way, bar staff raise an eyebrow at you, nod, and another beer arrives. That is a good pub. And buy them a beer for later for good service before paying tab...

  Come to Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the depths of winter and watch the geordies go from pub to pub barely dressed (particularly  the ladies) and that incudes when it's  snowing or sub zero temperatures.

  And its acceptable to bring kids to the pubs become its a family atmosphere also you can bring the dog too 😊

  at the pub I drink in we have boy band Saturday, so fun 50, 60, 70 and 80 year old men singing along to boy bands

  Love the guy who says the Pub isn&apos;t about drinking (Plus uses the word Bloke!). A good pint might be part of it but the pub can mean connecting with your friends, your neighbours, or if you don&apos;t have those links simply having a relaxed time around other people. On a Sunday I see some people meeting up playing a board game with each other and having a pint or ten and some pub grub and I see some people maybe having a drink alone together. If anyone ever says the UK has no culture point them to the pub (That might be a gazillion years old) and let them marinade in something special.

  Dear overseas visitors, there are many types of different pubs some are wet led ie primarily serve drinks and usually just some simple snacks, some are very much food led, some are “ chain” pubs like Wetherspoons which work to the same formula regardless of location, yes you can usually run a tab , sometimes for security you may have to hand over a credit card,( especially in a busy city centre pub, ) where I live they don’t ask for a credit card. Sometimes you can book ahead for a table , other times you just roll up or queue. If in doubt about whether you order food at the bar or you can order at your table just ask behind the bar.
