  I went to store get groceries. My goal was $50. I spent $51. I&apos;m cutting where i can. &nbsp;As a single mother with no child support. &nbsp;Im doing good.

  ive always lived below my means. even when times are good. now when things are expensive i dont really stress. im glad to have options and a nice security cushion

  As a single-income factory worker in my late 50s, I have 2 old cars and live in a 40-year-old home, all paid off. I have no debt, paying off my cash-back credit card monthly. My salary is modest, but I&apos;m sinking 16% (plus a 4% match) into my 401(k). <br><br>I don&apos;t take vacations and live very simply, in contrast to friends and coworkers who travel internationally. This doesn&apos;t make me inflation-proof, but it&apos;s a hedge against today&apos;s uncertainties.

  My hairdresser is always trying to influence me to purchase a more expensive car. I love my vehicle- paid for, reliable. I prefer to use my money for other things!

  I’ve been sick awhile and unable to work, so my finances are limited. <br><br>Yet I garden from seed to seed. Make art with and about using necessity as the mother of creation. For instance using regular cooking oil with my oil paints. The rest are low priced storebrand art supplies that I mostly get multiple years of use from. <br><br>😂 I crochet and craft. When I’m not using the yarn I got Black Friday 2025 to make clothes for myself and toys for my cat, I’m crafting art supplies. My current fascination is making paint with foraged minerals, bought pigment powder, and household items like fruits and seasoning. <br><br>This doesn’t include all the ways I enjoy these hobbies or the things I’m making myself from thrown out cardboard, or how I use this to make the little income I have. <br><br>The point is following my bliss, means enjoying the things that are accessible and empower me because they bring me joy so easily. <br><br>I don’t DEPRIVE myself. Im just open to all the things that I like that don’t make me feel stressed because I can’t afford it, or make me feel bad when I buy it. I prefer focusing on using what I have. <br><br>I find it’s more a matter of the negative stereotypes about everything fun costing a lot, and only being able to save money, by focusing on what you don’t want, that’s the problem. <br><br>It makes you blind to all the things you enjoy and focused on deprivation. It’s the emotional equivalent of being fat shamed into an unhealthy starvation diet, in order to be healthy. It’s unattainable for most. Doesn’t address the REAL issue. And causes MORE problems than it ‘claims’ to solve. <br><br>I REALLY like the beginning of the video. But it started to be a downer as it started to contradict the original message of finding joy without going bankrupt, with talks of the same “deprivation” and sacrifice that was deemed unnecessary in the beginning of the video. <br><br>Just because other people may view your buying decisions as ‘sacrifices’ the truth is you’re just following your greater passion. You don’t sacrifice new clothes shopping, you just may prefer to buy a house or being able to travel. <br><br>Focusing on the goal you really want, is more fun than focusing on not getting the new clothes you want, but not nearly as much as buying a house or freedom to take a break when you want. <br><br>I just wish this video could have been more consistent about focusing on the joy of being resourceful. ❤

  Went with a friend this weekend to the Superbucks coffee place and I offered to pay. It was $15.37 for two small almond milk lattes. WTH !! Never again!

  Grew up poor. Got rich, went broke, got richer again. Seen it all. Fancy shit, basic shit. Some stuff is worth the money, that I still splurge on. Food, health, experiences and adventures, helping a friend in genuine need. I also met and dated the best women in broke times - they liked me for me, not for the wallet. <br><br>I&apos;m set for life but nobody knows it. Modest is the way to go. Happiness from consumerism, materialism and chasing status is transient and a trap. Best joy and purpose is found elsewhere.

  I love how you explained having your money work for you by putting it in a HYSA you can begin to enjoy the money your money is making without having to tap into the initial amount you saved. I wish more people understood this!
