  That was a fantastic narration. <br><br>Both my wife and I have relatives fighting under Gen. Longstreet. My relative survived, &nbsp;but wife’s relative was Tazwal Patton who took a buck and ball shot to his jaw and died some 2 weeks later. Later George S. Patton would die in the 3rd Battle of Winchester. Both Patton brothers were buried together here Winchester’s Mt. Hebron Cemetery.

  So funny. The title says the part that all the books leave out. But what this narration leaves out, and all the books leave out in my opinion is Meade’s predawn attack on Culps Hill. That’s the event where Meade caught Lee by surprise and changed the whole day’s events. Nobody talks about it, but it was a major event. I just find this ironic.

  Lang&apos;s brigade was the FLorida Brigade, he had recently taken command as the prior commander was ill with yellow fever, and the bridge was transferred to Picket&apos;s Division the night before the attack. They were on the right side front of Pickett&apos;s division, the Mississippi brigade was to their right and to the FL brigade&apos;s rear. The 2nd FL Regiment&apos;s sun burst flag was found under the union cannon. The oblique turn ordered by Pickett brought their rows in line to have union fire down their rows, not through the rows. That made the artillery and rifle fire way more effective as it was difficult to miss hitting a man in such a formation.

  My grandfather told me &nbsp;, his father , my great grandfather &nbsp;, then he saw grey , he saw red , when he saw red , he got his gun.<br> &nbsp; He was a union artilleryman at Gettysburg.

  This is absolutely the best telling of day three at the battles of Gettysburg. You coverage of the cavalry fighting at theast battle field fills in many questions on why General Pickett sent his men into the face of Union cannons. &nbsp;The main question was what was he thinking, putting all the blame on General Pickett. People always make a big deal out and Pickett graduating last in their class. That is absolutely stupid. Somebody is always the last in the class the same way that somebody’s always the first one the thing to consider they did graduate so drop the nick picking.

  I had &nbsp;great uncle who serve with CUSTER’s Michigan regiment. He survived the whole war. He did loose an eye while traveling through an occupied town in the south, I’m not sure where, his son who my contact with in the 1960s was unfortunately hit my car one day crossing the road.

  Every time I watch videos about Gettysburg I ask myself, How did Lee let this happen? I always come to the same conclusion, it was ego. Semper Fi!
