The IT guy that died was playing (EVE Online) right when they started attacking. He left a message saying "Oh f**k gunfire" The Devs left a Memorial for him in game.

Edit: goddamn 375 likes. Noice 👌🏻
Holyfuck 430 likes. Awesome

Just like Black Hawk Down…the more you read/learn about the incident, the more furious you’ll get.

This wasn’t just a random attack on some contractors , it was an attack on a US consulate and the US did nothing to retaliate or help them, this country makes no sense sometimes

I was a Contractor with Aegis at the time this happened. Stationed in Kirkuk. All of our people were dying to help out and everyone was told to stand down

If y'all are interested, Kris Paronto was on the Shawn Ryan show 5 days ago going into deep detail of what happened and the cover-up that followed.

All requests for military support were denied, and any air or ground support that was on the way were told to stand down or rerouted. The security team with the ambassador did ask for more support before the attack happened, but that was denied to.

This is Not a cheesy Bay film, he has many friends in the SEAL community and spent time with them learning a lot about them and GRS, the actors spent a lot of time with the real guys and they made sure the story was told correct, Bay said he toned down his explosions for this movie to keep it more “real” but still Hollywood.

What made this even worse was the story our government told the American people after this horrible event. Luckily these brave men did tell their story.

Proof that Michael Bay can actually direct, especially war movies.

The movie didn't do "Bob" the station chief dirty, he was by all accounts one of the main people responsible when it comes to letting the situation get as bad as it did. He was a career company man who was pretty much phoning it in for his final years of service before retirement. Combine his complacency and inability to act with the complete negligence of the State Department (and their subsequent attempts to cover up their role in the situation).

As others have pointed out, Shawn Ryan had multiple of the GRS operators on his podcast (Oz and Tanto), and their accounts pretty much line up with the depiction of events in the film (which makes sense since the movie itself is based on a book written by Mitchell Zuckoff with direct input from all five of the surviving operators from the annex team). Shawn has also done a handful of episodes with a former CIA targeter/analyst named Sarah Adams, who served as the senior advisor to the House of Reps committee on the attack, and had a lot of insightful insider information to offer that makes you realize the BS they were shown as having to deal with in the movie barely even scratched the surface of how colossally messed up the situation was.

The problem with having a corrupt government is that our soldiers often get sacrificed for stupid reasons
