  As an RN That worked laboring delivery, And also had three children... I cannot express how much I love this woman and what she does.  She is such a treasure to the medical community, But even more so is a patient advocate, Reaching the millions of woman that needs to hear her and have her as their guide.  She is a treasure!!!

  Delivering the placenta makes me think of my nurse mom. If we ever watched a movie or show where someone gave birth, she would always comment on how unrealistic the scene was and that they never show that you have to deliver the placenta too!!

  Just googled what a placenta looks like because I realized at 29 weeks I had not seen a real one (except for drawings, but there's a big difference between a color drawing and a color photo...) - it's definitely gross looking, but SO wild and amazing that it has been feeding and taking care of my baby for months now <3 Sometimes, the coolest and most beautiful things are also really gross squishy blobs that make you slightly queasy when you look at them 😂

  Such wonderful information! Had my son at 35+3, and there was an actual medical crowd in the room! 😂 my doc and nurses, his doc and nurses, there were probably 15-18 staff in the room at one point just making sure both of us were a-okay during birth and the first moments postpartum. I gave birth in a hospital birth center.

  I wish informed consent was a thing. I have had 4 babies and after the first with pitocin I hated it and did not want it again but wasn't given the choice. By my 4th baby everything happened naturally and as I was in that moment after baby came out they injected pitocin right into my IV and immediately I tasted metal and lost my breath I was so mad I asked what did you just do to me? Everything was going fine. I hate unnecessary intervention without informed consent.

  Excellent informative video! Worth mentioning that most perineal tears are 1st and 2nd degree. The 3rd and 4th 😱 are rare.

  Victory Meal!  With my 1st VBAC, hubby got concerned when the anesthesiologist was called back in to give me a booster before the repairs were started.  1 hour later and a stage 4 tear.  I do wish that I was better infomed with a video like yours.
