39 and 5 today. Last night woke up around Midnight to heavy cramping and what felt like contractions. Started counting them and was about to text my Midwife but then they went away after a few hours. Very disappointed 😢

With my first, I thought I was having braxton hicks at 35w, but I was spotting and decided to go to the hospital. Before we got in the car, I started bleeding a lot more, and it wasnt until i hit transition that they were...more uncomfortable. They were never really painful, it was just pressure. My labor was 4hrs 15min from the time I woke up to when he was born, and that included like 30min of them telling me not to push while they found a doctor.

With my second, I had the same pressure, but my cervix felt like it was being ripped apart. He was actually breech, so maybe that was why. No epidural until they found out, after I'd reached 10cm, that he was breech. The BP monitor went off in the OR the same time I had a contraction, and I was surprised it wasn't high. My OB said it was because I was breathing well through contractions.

My water also didn't break until after pushing contractions started with my first, and it broke on the OR table after I was numb with my second and ive heard intact waters help. My second labor was 3:45min. I count it as that because if my water broke after I was 10cm, there's no way I wasn't having pushing contractions already and it only took me like 10min to push out my first so...

Still wish there would have been a doctor trained in vaginal breech delivery because recovery would have been SO much easier.

With my first I thought it was Braxton Hicks at first. I was shopping in the afternoon, so I went home and had a lay down. After two hours, I came to the conclusion that this wasn't Braxton Hicks. They were consistent and getting closer together. When my husband came home, I had him take me to the hospital. The midwife (title of labour and delivery nurses in Australia) monitored me for a bit, but felt that I wasn't really acting like a woman in labour. I was sent home after being diagnosed with Braxton Hicks. I couldn't sleep. I ended up getting my husband up a while later and demanding he take me back to the hospital. I was fed up, and annoyed. They were going to stop the bloody contractions so I could sleep, damn it. The sun rose on the way back to the hospital. It was the same midwife who saw me the first time. She said "oh, it seems a little more serious now, let's check you." She checked me, and I saw that briefest look of horror, then she declared that 'we're having a baby". I was fully dilated. They had me hold off on pushing until they had a pediatrician for my son, since I was only 35 weeks along.

I think my uterus just had a really bad day/night couple of nights ago when I was very stressed out. I thought that was it, it's happening. And then nothing. Like, nothing. 39+5😱

This is my 5th baby and first experience with prodromal contractions. Never had an OB warned me about these. I’m so thankful my midwife explained this time around. Over an hour of painful regular contractions and still no true labor- many people have no clue this is even a thing.

That balloon example with the ping pong ball was perfect! You always have the absolute best physical examples of how to explain things visually - I love it, thanks!

I was having some crazy contractions with my second baby 3 weeks ago. I was watching a video on all the prelabor signs. I thought it was weird I was checking every box. 30 minutes later I started getting my first contractions. I thought I was hyping myself up and tried ignoring them. They were inconsistent timing but felt intense. I layed down and felt better but they never stopped. I hadn't felt this pain since I gave birth the first time. I actually fell asleep during it. Still had the contractions while asleep. Woke up still having contractions. Just as painful but the timing and pain was still inconsistent. Wfter 13 hours I go to the hospital and it was real labor. Doctors told me it was so inconsistent because baby was breached.

What are the ones that feel like period cramps in the same area you'd normally feel them in?

I remember I just couldn't tell AT ALL if my contractions were true labour 😂 so I rushed to the hospital just in case bc I live a bit far away from the nearesr hospital... and yep. True labour. 4cm dilated. If I had stayed home, I'd have a home birth.
It wasnt intense though. Just regular.

I get unbearably painful”Braxton hicks” and this is my second pregnancy. BUT, nothing makes them feel better. They just suck and give me a Charlie horse in both legs and back pain and basically immobilize me. Also triggered by semen after 20 weeks. Both pregnancies. But I know real contractions bc it feels like period pain in the beginning.

I think I am having prodromal labor or irritating uterus, because the contractions feel so real, taking away my night sleep, but they have been there for 4 nights now, and I am 35 weeks, and my midwife said the baby hasn't come down to the pelvis yet. Yesterday night I even reached the 5 1 1 rule, but the intensity didn't define "more than period cramps", so I didn't go to the hospital, and nothing has happened yet.
