I wished they molded it in grey like on the Box.. or at least a more greyish Blue.. anyhow i was thankful for them using the old molds

I think the contact is fused there is no movement at all will try some vinegar on the contacts to clean them, thanks for the sub it’s really appreciated, I am just finishing up the X wing video for tomorrows release, hopefully.

Wow I've never seen one of these with a free promo figure before!

It is a shame they simply stripped the electronics out of this one, I think they stripped them out of all the vehicles except for the Falcon, the AT-AT and the X-Wing which actually got updated ones, but the TIE Fighter would've been so ace if it had the actual TIE fighter sounds, especially considering how iconic they are!

Hi @Dukepiestalker, nice video.
I'm actually a US collector who restores toys.
I picked up a couple of the Hasbro Ties some years ago, and I do like them as well; I'm a bit of an army builder actually.
As for getting your vintage Tie working, I've worked on those too...
From your picture of the inside, nothing looks wrong. But the first step would be seeing if current is getting to the light and motor. A little corrosion can effect that circuit... a little mild sanding of the battery contacts might help.
I can't tell, but maybe your red wire is loose too?
Then maybe between rhe switch and the battery contact something could be interrupting the power.
Next is if you both the light (LED) is burned out and if the motor is siezed.
Motors are easy; I've probably gotten more than a dozen of them to work again. Physically spin the gear on it while applying power with the batteries installed; it'll start spinning again on it's own.
After that add some oil (in the US here I use general 3-in-One brand oil, but I'm not sure if you have that brand over there). But general oil from a department store or hardware/home improvement store should be fine.
As for the light, if it's burned out, that might be tricky. That would require prying open that piece of plastic the light is fit into (glued in place), and sourcing and soldering a new LED.
Doable for me (I have the equipment and an electronics background), but I'm not sure of your skill level.
For more help, I'd be happy answer questions, or there's excellent toy restorers here on YouTube like ToyPollio who are very knowledgeable about fixing toys like this (I'd be surprised if ToyPollio doesn't have a repair video of Kenner Tie fighters).
Anyway, thanks for the video and good luck.

I hated that blue color. I use to spray paint my tie fighters. Turned out pretty good for back in the day.

Cool video, liked and subbed.

I've been tempted a few times to get some of these POTF2 vehicles, mainly because they are much cheaper than the original ones 😅

I restored my Vader Tie a few years ago, they really are quite basic, in mine the battery contacts were badly corroded, but sanding them down until they were shiny did the trick. Also the contact in the button can corrode, it's just two thin bits of copper that get pushed together, a bit of light sanding there can also help.

Keep up the great work 👍 😊
