Sorry for the slightly late upload. The audio for this video got messed up, so I had to fix it. If there are any audio mistakes in this, consider it my artistic flair.

Anyway, VOTV tomorrow and two back-to-back Half Sword videos after that. Enjoy!

The reason why jarls are so overpowered in the campaigns is because jarl got a buff after they made these levels, they gave them two new abilities(ice wall and rage which makes them invincible for a short period if they are low on HP) and changed their cost from 850 to 1500, so these levels used to be much easier. The next two campaigns shouldn’t have this problem tho cause they were made after the jarl rework.

Fun Fact: 15 of the 16 Legacy units are either a unit that was present in the alphas or were shown off in developer footage between the release of the closed alpha and early access, and 6 of them originate from scrapped factions, while some others still have faction connections, and even fit into the playstyle of those factions:

The Peasant was the first unit, from which all others were built off of, they were the original cheap spam unit, peasant rush was a common tactic back in the early days, especially since they only costed 10 gold, instead of the 30 they do now, originally they did not have any clothing or headgear like all units in the Pre-Alpha aside from the Chicken Man, who wore only a coat, where as now they have a village woman design that clearly links them to the Farmer faction, it's clear that they didn't make the initial cut as the Halfing fills a similar role, with the additional benefit of being good at distracting and harassing.

The Poacher was a fan favorite unit that was only present in the Pre-Alpha, he was the cheaper short range counterpart to the Archer, and made the Archer obsolete, as despite having far shorter range and in a later patch worse aim than it's counterpart it had it had a far better fire rate with it's attack speed being 1 second rather than the Archer's 2.7 seconds, while being half the cost and having the same health and movement speed, it was removed in the Open Alpha as they couldn't figure out how to have them both exist without making the other redundant, but now they are pretty balanced out, mainly because the Archer is nowhere near as bad as it was in the old days, design wise it's tricky to fit it into a faction as it looks like it could fit with either Farmer or Wild West, and it would thematically it would fit into either as in medieval times poaching was mostly done by peasants, while hunting was an important part of life in the wild west.

The Blowdarter was shown off in a video on Landfall's channel, it was meant to be part of an Aztec faction.

The Pike was another dev video unit, they were meant to be part of the Renaissance, interestingly in their video they didn't drop their pikes after a single use, the dropping behavior seems to be a reference to a bug in the alphas, where the Spearmen (the original iteration of the Sarissa) would drop their spears upon the battle starting, the release version of the Pike still retains it's Renaissance theming.

The Barrel Roller (originally spelt as one word) was present in the alphas starting with the Open Alpha, it was part of the Napoleon faction alongside the Musket and Cannon Crew, in it's original iteration when the barrel exploded it would produce fire that would spread to other units, unlike all the other units in the factions lifespan be in in the alphas or in videos, it lacked the French shako hat, having no hat at all, following the decision to scrap the Napoleon faction and split it's units across Renaissance and Pirate, the Barrel Roller was intended to go into Pirate alongside the Cannon, but didn't make the cut, not even as a secret unit, with it seemingly being replaced by the Bomb on a Stick for whatever reason.

The Boxer was another unit that was present all the way back in the Pre-Alpha, and there really isn't much to say, the only thing noteworthy is that it's design makes it one of the few units to not fit into any of the regular factions, as the only units with similar aesthetics and theming are the Super Boxer and the Cheerleader, all having a modern sports theme.

The Flag Bearer was another dev video unit, it was made for the Napoleon faction, it acted pretty much the same as it does now, aside from the ring not being present in the video, it originally had a shako hat like almost every other Napoleonic unit, while the flag it flew was much larger and was the french tricolor (though someone got the order of the colors wrong with it being red, blue and white, than the correct blue, white, red), it was the only one of the Napoleon units to not be moved to either Renaissance or Pirate factions in some form, the release version removes the french tricolor for a generic flag with a sword on it, and changes out the shako for a helmet.

The Pharaoh was another dev video unit, it was meant for an ancient Egypt inspired Desert Kingdom faction, where it presumably would've been the boss unit, while the faction itself wasn't in the alphas, the Sahara map (originally just Desert), was updated in the Closed Alpha to feature a pyramid with an opening at the top, that when a unit fell into would unleash a plague that would attack units on both teams, making it the only scrapped faction aside from Neon (which was fully added in the Closed Alpha) to have had a map, not even the Napoleon faction got that treatment, despite actually having units in the game at that point.

The Wizard was shown in the trailer for an early iteration of the Farmer faction, where it was seemingly the boss unit as it was the last one shown, with the spot ultimately going to the Scarecrow.

The Chariot was another OG unit from the Pre-Alpha, and an instant fan favorite due to the wobbly horse, it was always meant to be a roman chariot, however when the Open Alpha released it was reskinned to be a sleigh pulled by a reindeer as it was around the holiday season, however this wasn't changed and it proceeded for the entirety of the Open and Closed Alphas.

Thor was very briefly shown off in some early footage on the 3.0 (final) animation system, rather than his own designated video.

The Tank was shown off in two different videos each a different iteration on a different animation system, the first iteration was the most similar in appearance and function to the final iteration, aside from not having a crew riding it, constantly moves and occasionally fires off a shell, but mostly just runs everything over and having pretty much the same design, the second is a lot more reserved in it's movement, slowly moving up to it's target, stopping to fire it's shell which knocks it backwards a bit, then resuming it's movement, and having a mounted machine gun mowing down units, and having a crew of 3, with a gunner manning the machine gun, the commander controlling when the shell is shot, and a third guy just hanging on the underside of the barrel (he doesn't seem to do anything), as opposed to the commander, gunner and loader on the final one who don't actually do anything and are just for show, it was intended for a Modern faction that it and the M16 from the alphas would've been part of, with the tank presumably being the boss unit, though when the Modern faction was scrapped it was in consideration for being moved to the World War faction, before that too was scrapped.

The Super Boxer along with the last two, were in the Alphas, they were mainly joke units that weren't really usable in most levels, the Super Boxer was originally just a better boxer, with 10k hp and an attack speed of 0.2 seconds, the only visual difference between it and the regular boxer was the glowing gloves and eyes, abilities weren't really a think back then, so it didn't have the ability it does now.

The Dark Peasant acted differently in each alpha it was in, the first iteration impaled people on ominous black spikes, while the second iteration removed the spikes instead letting him fly, pull units around him and attack units with his two evil orbs, his appearance was basically a recolor of the Super Peasant at the time, both lacking any clothing or headgear just having glowing eyes and bracelets, with the Dark Peasant's being red, his original attack with the spikes actually still exists, but it's an ability that's only in the unit creator called "Legacy Impale", while I my self an unable to confirm this directly so take this with a grain of salt, supposedly in the official discord one of the developers had confirmed/ approved of the theory that the Dark Peasant and the Swordcaster are the same person, and that's why the Swordcaster's hands and body are locked up, it's to restrain his evil powers (clearly not fully as it's not stopping him from impaling people with magic swords), Interestingly Zorro, one the developers have said that the Dark Peasant and the Void Monarch who according to the game files and the unit creator is and I quote "LORD OF DARKNESS AND STUFF LIKE THAT... ALL OF THE BAD STUFF REALLY... HE'S THE LORD OF ALL THAT" have no strong connection to each other.

Super Peasant is interesting as in the Open Alpha it just didn't work how it was meant to at all, it was supposed to fly into units like Superman, very similar to how it does now, but in practice it just hovered over the ground and just running into enemy units pushing them back until they eventually die, the Closed Alpha fixed it with it acting how it was meant to, it was so bad in the Open Alpha that Landfall had to put out a video showing what it was meant to do, and unlike how it is now, the Dark Peasant would just annihilate it, but now She solos him, with it taking at least two Dark Peasants to take her down.

The Banner Bearer is the only Legacy unit to be brand new, having been created as a counterpart to the Flag Bearer and sharing the Napoleonic theme, even bringing back the signature shako hat.

Sadly we didn't get the return of the Chicken Man and the Chicken Man Man despite the devs making concept art for them, the Chicken Man was a guy in a coat who ran around the map pooping out chickens that ruthlessly home in onto units, he was the final boss of the initial Pre-Alpha, while the Chicken Man Man was a giant Chicken Man who poops out Chicken Men, who then poop out chickens, he was the Final Boss of the later patches, The Scarecrow does almost the same thing as the Chicken Man, aside from running around, but it still would've been nice to see him back.

Mrzacnono, your upload schedule is somehow controlling the weather in Hawaii. Where my campus is, there was a flash flood, cars got partially submerged, a dorm got evacuated and classes got cancelled. When I saw this video the sun was out and the water is subsiding. Please keep uploading you’re the only hope for this weather system.

-Nathan

MRZAC here are some info that might help with your tactics, way of thinking or just overall enjoyment for the game. This coming from someone who has 140+ hours in the game.

1 - While SOME levels of the Landfall campaigns do, unfortunately, requires cheese and Unit Possession micro, they are still the overwhelming minority. I would say out of the 379 total campaign levels, only about less than 5 non-joke levels absolutely requires cheese/UP.
For instance: in Legacy, only the level "Brawl Your Way Out" requires cheese/UP, but you can legitimately beat all other levels. The Wild West campaign (and some others) has NO levels you have to cheese.
I have a list of campaign levels you have to cheese/especially RNG heavy levels at the end of this comment. Only including the faction specific campaigns.

2 - The more common forms of unbalanced levels are RNG heavy levels, where the outcome of the same armies you made will have drastic different outcomes everytime you run it. So occasionally you might have an army that will work, but you'll lose purely because of RNG.

3 - Take some time off screen (or on-screen, I won't complain) to learn your soldiers in the sandbox! Learn their abilities, learn their niche, learn their strengths and weaknesses. One of the great fun I have in this game is experimenting with all the troops I have and figure out different combos. There are 139 troops in your barracks, and that makes for A LOT of combo of armies that you might not even be aware of.
For example: Pikes can one-shot the Jarls, so that one level you just need even more strategic placement.

4 - This game is A LOT more strategic than you think, sometimes you have the right army, but its the placement that needs tweaking.

Dynasty: NONE
Renaissance: "Ren vs Med 3"
Pirate: NONE
Spooky: NONE
Wild West: "Shooting Balloons" (RNG heavy)
Legacy: "Bomb" (does not work as intended due to balance changes but can still be beaten using Dragons), "Brawl Your Way Out"
Fantasy Good: NONE
Fantasy Evil: "Shattering Standoff" (RNG heavy)
Other than those, all other levels can be beaten legit or have low-moderate RNG.

53:28
In his first scene of Godzilla (1998), Matthew Broderick is seen driving recklessly in the rain. This is a reference to August 5th 1987, when Matthew Broderick and Stuart Little were having a joyride in Northern Ireland. As he drunkenly reached down for his fallen pack of cigarettes, Broderick swerved into the oncoming lane, collided with another car, and killed two women. Broderick and Little were fined $175 and a slice of cheese respectively before being released. Both actors continue to drink and drive to this very day.
