1910 Ehrich & Graetz No 2 Stove - Why Don't They Make Them Like This Anymore? [Restoration]

  Hi folks! This 1910 Ehrich &amp; Graetz stove fought me the whole way, but test at the end made it worth it. The CNC work in this build was done on my Makera machines.   I just don&apos;t understand... You use some of the most top-notch, high tech equipment I&apos;ve seen, using craftsmanship worthy of a German watch maker, then you light it without &quot;trimming the wicks&quot;!? &nbsp;All that soot is from over extended, untrimmed wicks. <br>Fabulous work though. 👍

  If you were restoring it just to be displayed in a museum I would have gone with the original color, &nbsp;however since it is being used for it&apos;s original purpose it&apos;s perfectly understandable to choose safety and endurance over accuracy. &nbsp; The red was an excellent choice, it goes well with the black and gold on the rest of the unit.

  This was really cool, I hadn&apos;t ever thought about all the skills necessary to rebuild one so thoroughly. What I find most astonishing is that either it&apos;s designed to soot the heck out of your cookware, or you didn&apos;t control the flame at all. &nbsp;Either is unexpected.

  Most restorers bring old objects back to life. You bring history back to life. The amount of patience, craftsmanship, and attention to detail in this restoration is simply incredible. One of the best restoration videos I&apos;ve seen this year.

  You can usually find high heat paint for engines/ BBQ grills in either a car part store or a Hardware Store. Isinglass (mica) for wood stoves is available for the window of your stove. You can cut it with some heavy duty shears or a good sharp knife. You’ll find what you’re looking for on the Internet for future projects. You do very nice restoration work.
