Thank you so much for watching this project. This butter churn challenged me more than anything I made before, but it also brought me the most joy. Rebuilding the new one and preserving the old one felt like giving history a second life. I truly hope you enjoyed the process. Your support means the world to me. Cheers! Johnny!

A wonderful demonstration of the difference between restoration and conservation! I actually would have gone beyond restoration to fix the old churn, but you have kept the original in a way that can serve as a reminder of times gone by and educate future generations while delighting the older generation. Thumbs up for the "new" churn as well. We can see how the original would have looked and worked. My father did the same for a rope making machine. Preserving the old while making a working model.

This was the most fun to watch. I am a 78 year old woman. I was thinking this was an old ice cream maker like we used to have at family picnics when I was a kid. My GG Parents brought the ice cream, orange juice in a big steel milk can and GG Mother had a butter churn. But hers was much taller with a long handle going down inside. My 1st husband of 35 years before he died had a huge shop and built a lot of things like you. I miss that shop. When the tall ships came into Pt Stanley on Lake Erie one The True North needed big threaders and nobody had any. But the Captain cut grass for us as a kid and came to see my husband. Hubby lifted up the curtains below his 25 ft. workbench and pulled our huge threaders. So they were able to get the ship repaired. Never give up that shop. I also had my own tools and still have a drawer of tools and my own tool box today. This video brought back so many memories. I loved it. Great idea to use Oak just like the old folks did.

Imagine Jack Sparow sitting on his pirate ship, churning butter in this ancient churn! Wonderful restoration/ remaking of a butter churn!

My mom made us a few little "churns" from Mason jars. She nailed some strips of wood on a dowel, put a whole in the lid and we would make butter. And when we were done we would put water and soap and churn that too. To clean them up. We would also wash doll clothes in them. Fun times!!

I love your skills and efforts to make your own version as authentic as possible but also to respect the original and keep it. What a brilliant video. Thankyou.

That is also an ice cream maker. I remember sitting on top of ours, in the basement over the drain, cranking, cranking, cranking away until the ice cream was ready.

Our Arab ancestors used to make butter-making equipment from the skin of young goats, and it was called a "makhadha". ❤You can search and learn about other cultures. 😊

My great grandfather was a hooper; he travelled the length of the British isles repairing barrels. I expect he might have repaired a few butter churns as well along the way…

I love love love that you don't just start throwing original parts away like a lot of them do.
