  "Doormat Mom" is genuinely one of the most insufferable people I've ever had the displeasure of coming across on the internet. I absolutely do not blame her kids for going no contact.

  "Epidemic of estranged parents" Fun fact, when divorce became easier to get/legal, divorce rates skyrocketed. Not because relationships suddenly got worse, but because they finally had the option. There is no "epidemic" of estrangement, theres just less social pressure to stay where you arent happy. Its not as weird anymore to not talk to family. Theres no epidemic, theres just people being informed and acting accordingly.

  “I don’t know why they stopped all contact” is the parent equivalent of “The divorce came out of nowhere.” Do they know how DONE a kid has to be to cease all contact with a parent?? It runs counter to every biological impulse, yet these arrogant parents still get them to that point.

  The estranged parent never knows why. Yet adult kids have told them, many times, many ways, over and over to no avail. Estrangement is the last resort.

  I am an estranged parent, so to speak, and you know what, IT WAS MY FAULT. I came home from deployment, and instead of dealing w my PTSD I found drugs. A decade sober and baby steps back into my kids&apos; lives, but IT WAS MY FAULT. I took accountability and now am building a relationship back but only.after my children&apos;s feeling were validated and I owned my WHOLE part bc they were children
