Hi Sienna Im Maori from NZ and would to share with you my culture
The haka goes back to the 13 century , The Polynesian people first arrived in New Zealand around 1250–1300 CE, coming from East Polynesia in canoes. Hawaii also being one of the Island.. we are similar in some ways with the Marae.. Another race called the Moriori were here first and fled to the Stewart Island the bottom of NZ..
The Haka was originally used for intimidating our opponents with the protruding tongue and stomping and fierce look but nowadays it used at funerals. weddings and achievements. More respect when the haka is done.
Obama and Oprah were welcomed onto our Marae and they were very touched and felt the spiritual experience while they were here.
Snoop Dog, Michael Jackson. Billie Ellish and many other Singers from the US and UK get greeted at the airport with the Haka. We enjoy hosting special guest make them feel welcomed.
Our Rugby team is the All Blacks, when we play the world cup usually the last two teams standing are the All Blacks and South Africa... It so full on and hard...
We had the 100 test last year against South Africa. We have quite a history with the Spring bok and I like to share this link with you.. We are very close with South Africa. Off the field both teams go and get drunk lol

Nice to meet you on here. Tena koutou

For a more traditional haka performance I’d recommend Angitu - Whakaeke 2020 which showcases both singing and haka
