  I&apos;m 73, British living in France for 15 yrs. Last Summer on a very hot day I cycled into town for groceries without having breakfast or lunch. I called in at a Roadside Farm Shop where I began to feel very dizzy. On the way back to my bike I collapsed in the road, just managing to crawl under a shady tree. Shallow breathing, palpitations, blurred eyesight, I thought something bad was happening. <br><br>A French family pulled up and saw me lying on the ground, immediately came over asking me what was wrong. My French is not great, but I managed to explain it was probably a low blood-sugar faint. They called the Paramedics, here they are Firemen (Pompiers) who turned up in minutes. They had little English but checked me out thoroughly, BP, Vision, Resp. etc, the couple bought me some fruit from the stand and I gradually recovered. It was scary. But the cost? ZERO! No invoicing, no request for Insurance Card. Zip!<br><br>That&apos;s Social Care. Not &quot;Communism&quot; just Human Decency, State caring for the People not the Bloodsuckers!

  The sickest thing in &apos;Murica is that employers ask their <i>employees</i> to “donate” <i>their</i> unused sick days to colleagues with a longer illness such as cancer – instead of simply granting them paid leave, as decent human beings would do.

  We Italians created over 300 different types of pasta, in every conceivable shape. Why in the nine hells you guys choose spaghetti if you are going to cut them? Just use a short pasta like penne, farfalle, fusilli, maccheroni...

  I&apos;m from Poland and chopping spaghetti still sounds... disgusting. If you chop spaghetti in front of italian tho, he or she may chop you.

  In Sweden, if we get sick during our vacation, we call in to work to use sick days instead of vacation days.<br>Being sick is not a vacation.
