  goulash.. the soup, cooked in a big pot for about 8 hours, originally cooked by Hungarian shepherds on the pasture. What you eat in Germany and Austria and other countries is stew, because they took it over from the Hungarians, they just don't know how to make it, so everything that has paprika and beef in it is called goulash. You can only taste and enjoy the original here.

  As for the lángos, the sour cream&amp;cheese is not the basic version. The basic version is the lángos with some garlic water sprayed on it. The sour cream&amp;cheese version is the &quot;deluxe&quot; one and Hungarians will stop at these two variations. All the rest are for tourist palates 🙂<br>And lángos is a street food, you should never approach it with a knife and fork, you hold it in your two hands and eat it, spreading the sour cream on your cheeks 🙂<br>Also, kürtős (chimney cake) shouldn&apos;t be filled with anything traditionally, and definitely not by ice cream. It supposed to be fresh off the fire, steaming hot. As it cools down it becomes rubbery, loosing its fluffyness. Best consumed hot without fillings. <br>Next time you&apos;ll know already 🙂

  The secret of the international (?) spread of goulash is in history.<br>When the dish was invented in its current form, Hungary was part of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. This included the present-day Czech Republic, Slovakia, the southern part of Poland, the western part of Ukraine (west of the Carpathians), Transylvania, Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia.<br>The dish was invented in the Gerbaud restaurant (now a confectionery) in Budapest.<br>It became popular and about 20-25 years later the people of the Monarchy created their own versions. There are several versions in Hungary too, but they are always soup.<br>For lángos. Fold it in half and then bite into it.<br><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnSYegzaAQg&amp;t=636">10:36</a> I don&apos;t know what it was. The cottage cheese dumplings I know are made entirely of cottage cheese and a little wheat semolina and eggs.
