  The reason they use the one time only fuse is that if you are stupid enough to pay £300 for a hair dryer and it stops then you are stupid enough to just go buy the same one again. They call this the Apple effect.

  The little black thing with the diode looking part is a temperature sensor and the white wire with the metal strip is the ioniser.

  As a former barber, I can tell you the failure is caused by Barbie Syndrome, which occurs when Barbie puts the dryer down while it's still running near a wall, etc., while she's reaching for a hair brush or scratching her arse with an afro comb

  I'm still using a Philips hair drier from new (1971) and it has never let me down. It has a simple hot and cold mode, it's very simple in design, but well-made and it's easy to take apart. That Dyson, you are working on, is way over the top in design and ridiculously difficult to take apart, plus there are plenty of areas on it that are just waiting to fail.

  I bought 50 of those for £300 and then found out the seller thought they were broken but they were actually working fine!! Sold them for a lot of money!!

  Someone else may have said it, but.... They don't use a bi-metal fuse because if it's put down somewhere the air flow will get blocked, it will keep running, fusing, resetting and re-fusing until something catches fire. Safety first!

  This is like, what, the 3rd one you’ve fixed? The one with all the hair stuck in the motor was one of my favorites on the channel.

  I remember someone asking Dyson why his £1000 washing machines didn’t really take off…….” They were too cheap” was the reply.

  Bought my wife one these years ago, did not know that filter came off and needed cleaned, took it off, thick layer of fluff, WOW! Thanks Vince...!

  It’s hilarious to think that in a zombie apocalypse anyone would be concerned about having their Dyson hairdryer functional. 😂 Watching you blithely dismantle these expensive items is marvellous. Whenever I take anything apart I always worry that I will break it even worse and ruin it — and I certainly have done that on occasion. I have to give myself a stern talking to in order to keep going to the next level. I ask, WWVD? and carry on. After all, if I don’t fix it, it’s going in the bin anyway. Your confidence gives me confidence and on those rare times where you can’t fix something it gives me consolation to know that not everything is fixable. Bless you and your videos, Vince. I would be very sad if you had to give up making these videos and the world would lose a valuable and cherished resource.
