You don't really give Prince Eugene enough credit. You seem to forget they were joint commanders. Just remember it was Prince Eugene who Napoleon studied.

Very interesting. Excellent job of bringing history to life. Amazing battle, British cavalry must have been amazing to see. It must have been horrific to witness. <br>Louis 14th must have been shocked to say the least

Marlborough was out-manouvering the the French and liberating Dutch border towns months before this battle and wrecked the French /Bavarian forces at the battle of Schellenberg.

16 years earlier in the Battle of Belgrade my ancestor, Sir Pancheri, died in the service of Prince Eugene and the Emperor.

Winston Churchill said his ancestor the Duke's victory put his family on the path of influence. Six years later, Queen Anne Stuart died without an heir. King George I was installed as the King of England. Apparently as a part of the Grand Alliance of the Holy Roman Empire and Britain. This dynasty still rules today. George I's court composer in Saxony was George Handel. After sometime in Italy, Handel served the three Georgian Kings.
